The Gig:


The Head of DTC & Ecomm will be a key player in the exciting future of Virgin Voyages by providing the strategic direction and leadership for the success of the ecomm experience & performance across the key digital elements (web/app/screens). VV is strongly committed to creating a brilliant DTC approach and having it as a core anchor in business plan delivery. Therefore this role is critical to the VV growth and takes end to end responsibility for driving the development and execution of the DTC/E-Commerce plan including but not limited to: making the most of online demand gen actions such as booking flow, full website/app/onboard screens experience, performance delivery, sailor engagement and satisfaction, digital analytics interrogation for ongoing improvement, and sailor upsell and support.


The leader of this area has in depth understanding in service/experience based brands and/or challenger and disruptive DTC brands. Additionally, they possess strong rapport building skills to ensure they manage partners and internal stakeholders to achieve projected outcomes. They are also experts at project management and initiative delivery. Their MO in decision making is supported with a data-driven acumen. Additionally, they are able to identify developing trends with key consumers segments and other successful DTC businesses that inform the evolution of the VV digital brand.


This person enjoys partnering with key leaders across the Company in the areas of revenue, brand marketing, technology, and sailor services, and strives to deliver a market-leading position in bookings, conversions and digital platform engagement. At a personal level, this individual has a natural curiosity, a desire to innovate and solve problems, the ability to see the full potential in their team and the tenacity set a clear path and deliver to that plan.


What You'll Be Up to:


  • Partner with marketing demand generation to develop impactful e-com programs, campaign support, as well as merchandising across product, service and other relevant categories.
  • Leverage customer insight and constantly monitor the competitive landscape and market conditions to identify opportunities, issues, and risks in order to recommend strategies and tactics
  • Support customer experience objectives delivery through insight led evolution of the digital channels
  • Lead ‘Red Hot Stuff’ model for implementation of 4-5 new digital innovative strategies per year to test and pilot.
  • Oversee digital design UI/UX and make sure it delivers on brand and on expectation for performance
  • Support on brand delivery of assets in collaboration with creative lead.
  • Provide strategic leadership and growth strategies for sales and revenue performance on brand.com and app.
  • Lead analysis with team to understand user behavior across all digital channels to help improve site engagement and increase conversion of key metrics and maximize return through testing and site optimization
  • Scout incremental opportunities via new digital channels and build business cases and ROI models.
  • Lead strategic development and roll out of a sailor upsell and My Account capabilities
  • Establish consistent reporting for digital commerce (sales and forecasting).
  • Work with key partners to monitor platform performance and plan improvements
  • Oversee strategy, business case, budget, selection and development of new innovations and roadmaps: app development, mobile first experiences, content hub, virtual sailing experience, and key trade channels.
  • Provide inspirational leadership. Through clear direction to team and offer continued development and management of a professional and high contribution organization.
  • Create global brand.com and all e-tail 3-year business plan and accompanying strategy/innovation roadmap.
  • Lead planning & prioritization for e-commerce /DTC tech development in conjunction with IT.
  • Cultivate strong and transparent working relationships across the organization, ensuring open communication about the measurement and performance against stated milestones and goals.
  • Manage global digital budget that supports innovations, pilots/test


SuperPowers:


  • Strong and disciplined project management and process improvement focus
  • Analytical mindset and proven ability to use data to optimize performance and inform future strategies
  • 15+ years of digital experience in driving and setting strategy for growth.
  • Knowledge of tech ways of working (agile, PI etc) and knowledge of key business tools/technologies
  • 7+ years building and leading a team
  • Demonstrated experience in service or experience-based brands leading the digital functions
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Understanding of disruptive DTC brands a plus
