Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Business Development for our thriving freight brokerage company. We specialize in providing efficient and cost-effective freight solutions to our clients. If you have a passion for sales, an in-depth understanding of the freight brokerage market, and a proven track record in business development, we want to hear from you!


Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate contract terms, rates, and agreements with customers and carriers to maximize profitability and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and achieve sales targets.
  • Manage and mentor a team of business development professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure seamless execution of customer requirements and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on sales performance, market insights, and business development activities for senior management.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, lead generation, and networking.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to potential clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and industry partners to expand our network and enhance business opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive positioning, and potential areas for business expansion.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements, and provide recommendations to the executive team for business improvement and growth.


Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong understanding of the transportation and logistics industry, including knowledge of freight brokerage operations, market dynamics, and industry trends.
  • Proven track record of success in business development and sales within the freight brokerage industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • Exceptional sales and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to close deals and drive revenue growth.
  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools to track leads, manage pipeline, and generate reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish long-lasting relationships with clients and industry partners.
