Job Summary

At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining trucks and construction equipment. In this role as a Group Manager, you will report to the Factory Manager and will be primarily responsible for contributing to the total manufacturing effort by directing and controlling several assembly line shut-downs by authorizing overtime and informing maintenance or machine repair personnel of priorities, alerting Planning or Tooling to manufacturing process changes. As a member of the Manufacturing team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What You Will Do

• Drives root cause analysis and resolution on all forms of loss, i.e., safety, quality, production.
• Develops detailed near-term and long-term production plans.
• Manages multiple sections and reports to the Large Mining Truck Group Manager.
• Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Section Managers, Team Leads and Team Members.
• Performs periodic audits for safety behavior, 5S, quality and MQ12005, standard work, productivity and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Owns the Continuous Improvement process, making sure new ideas are generated, worked and implemented, and any roadblocks are eliminated.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Bachelor degree in business or engineering or 7+ work experience
• 6+ years in a variety of Staff and Supervisory experience in Manufacturing Operations

Skills You Will Have

• Prior experience with Large Mining Trucks is preferred
• Prior Section Manager experience
• Good working knowledge of labor rules and regulations
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and leverage your network to solve problems

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
