About the role:


The Group Creative Director is responsible for inspiring and managing the overall creative initiative for the largest account in the agency and all Creative team assignments on this account. Partners with the Head of Creative to provide creative leadership to the agency.

What you’ll do:


  • Educating the client as to what advertising is and how it can work;
  • Develop and maintain an effective department structure, and help to create and maintain a high energy level and strong morale throughout the Creative team working on this account
  • Participate in account planning sessions to innovate and bring next-level thinking to campaign strategy and approach to any significant client projects
  • Actively train, direct and manage creative personnel
  • Demonstrate exceptional design thinking and concepting skills to critically evaluate in-flight work, initiate and contribute to organic-growth opportunities, and lead new business pitches
  • Evaluate creative personnel and make recommendations on headcount/staffing
  • Play a significant role in and champion of new business activities and continued growth of the agency
  • Possess exceptional presentation skills, demonstrating thorough understanding of subject matter. Has the ability to persuade based on a solid grasp of issues and personalities involved
  • Responsible for the quality of the agency’s creative product on its largest account, as well as the quality of operation of assigned Creative personnel to this account. By example and direction, the GCD fosters an agency reputation for creative excellence. The GCD assigns and reassigns creative personnel across this account for that express purpose
  • Showing how advertising can make an important contribution to the client’s marketing effort
  • Explaining the kinds of input needed by creative people in terms of information along with exposure to distribution channels and consumers
  • Cultivate a relationship and partner with client management and be involved with the client on the servicing of the account
  • Through all of the above, pursue the objective of better creative work supported by higher advertising appropriations – with increases in measurable results for the client and profit for the agency
  • Together with the account service staff and agency management, works to foster an increasingly effective and profitable client/agency relationship by:


About you:


  • Proven creative leadership on consumer and HCP accounts; experience on products with multiple indications preferred
  • 15+ years of professional art direction/design or copy marketing experience, with at least 10 years of pharmaceutical advertising
  • Experience managing a team
  • BA/BS, with coursework emphasis in communication design, advertising, or visual arts
  • Demonstrated ability to produce digital and printed creative materials
  • Specialty therapeutic category experience preferred


Essential skills:


  • Ability to provide sound analysis of clinical data
  • In-depth understanding of color theory and color relationships, typographic terms, page composition, current production techniques, photographic process for print and digital
  • Must possess standout presentation skills, demonstrating thorough understanding of subject matter. Has the ability to persuade based on scientific acumen, a solid grasp of therapeutic category, the brand’s challenges, and the personalities involved
  • Mastery of composition techniques (multiple elements and interactive pieces) to produce polished finished pieces, with strong attention to detail
  • Comprehensive computer photo-retouching and imaging development skills
  • Ability to provide insightful and creative interpretation of product research
  • Superior skills in full Adobe Creative Suite, MAC O/S, MS Office
  • Must be able to multitask, working quickly and effectively under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Web-based design tools a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective direction at photo shoots, effectively check and approve work on press, effectively organize and prepare electronic materials for output, and communicate knowledge of assigned product(s)
