This role will lead and art direct both day-to-day projects and long-term communication campaigns that flow through the Digital Strategy Brand Engagement (DSBE) team.
You will be the right candidate if you are as passionate about mentoring and elevating a team of designers and animators as you are about collaborating with fellow team members and internal communication partners. You must be confident in leading creative strategies and multimedia storytelling solutions from ideation to publishing while being on-brief and on-brand. This position calls for an out-of-the-box thinker and natural leader who can pivot fluidly between projects, play an active role in brainstorming sessions and express creative rationale confidently with executive presence. Join DSBE at Walmart and not only make an impact on the future of retail but also be part of a group of talented creatives generating innovative ways to tell stories about topics and issues that have local, national and global impact.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Identifying and implementing new and innovative communication design ideas by staying up to date on the latest visual design techniques and creative software trends to explore new creative territories.
- Managing the overall creative vision, strategy and design for projects, including composition direction to ensure proper narrative and information hierarchy.
- Supporting all communication programs and initiatives according to industry best practices by designing, developing and editing creative content and concepts for communication.
- Evaluating content and design for consistency, enforcing corporate style and branding and assisting the team on design work.
- Applying your own technical design expertise experience to coach creatives; assigning duties, building a team-based work environment.
You’ll sweep us off our feet if:
- You are a student of trends in social, culture and technology, and delight in finding inventive uses of media to tell stories.
- You have proven experience managing multiple deadlines simultaneously along with strong organizational and project management skills.
- You have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in graphic design or multimedia design.
- You own a killer portfolio of work that includes print, digital, print and animation.
- You are a savvy innovator with a track record for ideating and art directing inspiring concepts while maintaining excellence, attention to detail and out-of-the box thinking.
- You have bonus experience with any of the following: illustration, motion, video production, photography or copywriting.
- You can lead and inspire a team of designers and animators to translate business needs into on-brief on-brand multimedia content and campaigns while exceeding clients' expectations.
