Job Title:
Graphic Designer
Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $30.11 to $36.81 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
Summary of Position
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for all graphic needs as assigned by the Director of Marketing, San Diego Gulls. The position will focus on the development of event advertising for San Diego Gulls events. In addition, the position will take existing art provided by outside agencies and localize the art for events related to the Gulls. The position will help in developing collateral, advertising, digital and printed materials for the Gulls. An emphasis in print design is required. This position requires a person who is comfortable working with and communicating to different departments in the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Archive all print materials for the San Diego Gulls and keep in an orderly fashion to be easily accessed
  • Work with pre-approved art to develop San Diego Gulls sales (Season Seat, Mini Plan, Premium, Group Sales) collateral (including brochures, postcards, posters, POP and flyers)
  • Develop and edit digital banner advertisements and graphics for the San Diego Gulls web site (sandiegogulls.com)
  • Work with the Anaheim Ducks, Honda Center and The Rinks on the creation of synergistic ads
  • Generate comps and layouts to facilitate the approval process
  • Create advertising layouts for San Diego Gulls events and promotions.
  • Interface with clients and vendors on all levels
  • Special Projects as assigned by Director of Marketing
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Work with pre-approved art to localize for events produced by outside promoters
  • Develop creative for building signage where assigned
  • Design monthly and quarterly newsletters, brochures, postcards, posters, banners, POP, flyers Develop logos for various events and skating programs
  • Layout and develop ads for trade publications

Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Mac OSX, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of personnel from senior executives to entry level employees
  • Preferred sports / entertainment industry experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time, detail oriented and work well under pressure
  • Solid computer skills with Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ design experience in an in-house design department or agency required
  • College degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize assignments appropriately to ensure deadlines are met
