Geographic Information Systems Engineer

Pathloom, a pre-seed technology startup in the outdoor travel planning space, is looking for a Software Engineer with GIS skills to assist in our mission to get more people outdoors more often. We are utilizing our unique platform to simplify the outdoors discovery and planning process, and we’re looking for talented, proactive candidates with an interest in entrepreneurship and a passion for the outdoors to help us succeed in our mission! We’re building the world’s first all-in-one backpacking app, and we want your help!

We are seeking a candidate with skills in Geographic Informations System (GIS) data and processing to join a small entrepreneurial team. You will be a self-starter, part of a small, passionate entrepreneurial team and have autonomy in your decision making. It is an exciting time to join as we evolve the assets we’ve created for outdoor trip planning towards a focused backpacking app.

Required Experience:

• 5+ years engineering experience
• GIS projects using ESRI and Python GDAL

Preferred Experience:

• ArcGIS
• Data science and/or software experience
• AI & ML experience
• Mapbox
• OpenStreetMaps
• Startup experience

What You’ll Do:

You will be responsible for GIS data management and processing for our new native mobile app.

You will work closely with the software developers, product management and enjoy the empowerment of being part of a small, yet highly productive team.

The ideal candidate would be passionate about working with an early-stage startup, building teams, and leading the technical and software development efforts from scratch.
