General Manager
Tidewater Virginia
Our property, which includes Cumberland Estate, is rapidly developing through land and building acquisitions, building restoration and land conversion. We need a highly driven General Manager with a track record of delivering projects on time and building successful teams to lead the organization locally. Our business provides guest hospitality, hunting activities, and hosts private events and business conferences.
General Management – Experience leading an organization and its team members.
Construction – Oversee project managers, architects, general contracting, and skilled trades. Ensure projects are executed timely and to the highest standard.
Land Conversion – Oversee equipment operator team and fleet of equipment to develop wildlife habitat, agricultural fields, build and maintain farm roads and manage forests. Coordinate with various local governmental agencies and subject matter experts.
Project Management – Plan and execute diverse projects and coordinate resources for on time delivery and quality. Leverage existing contractor relationships and develop new relationships to execute projects in a timely manner and to the highest standard.
Agriculture and Forestry – Work with foresters to ensure timber is properly managed and harvested. Supervise Farm Manager to ensure livestock, pastures and agricultural fields are well maintained.
Hospitality and Hunting – Supervise Hunting Manager and Estate Manager (Direct Reports) in the development and growth of the hunting and hospitality program. This includes program design, partnerships, marketing, day-to-day operations, and maintenance.
Acquisitions – Oversee land and historical structure activities.
Job Requirements
- Good organization skills including project tracking, scheduling, and setting goals.
- Working knowledge of construction, farm equipment and heavy equipment operations, maintenance, safety, tools and implements.
- Experience with building construction, remodeling and maintenance is strongly desired.
- Strong people management and teambuilding experience.
- Experience with commercial hunting, hospitality, or sales.
- 20 years of experience successfully building and managing a team including recruiting staff, scheduling, and performance management.
- 5 years of experience in project management.
- 5+ years of general management experience.
- Knowledge of forestry and/or agriculture is a plus.
- Working knowledge of PC’s including use of Outlook, Word, and Excel.

- Base salary: $125,000 - $150,000
