FX & FI LATAM Market Analyst Internship

This is a 12-month, full time paid internship in the Corporate & Investment Banking group (CIB). Candidates must have authorization to work permanently in the US - BBVA will not sponsor visas for this position.

The position is for the New York office, located at 1345 Avenue of the Americas. Candidates will be expected to work from the office a minimum of four days a week.

Responsibilities

• Support of senior team members
• Business development or marketing activities
• Research and business analysis
• Assist with presentations, publications, spreadsheets and models
• Independent or team-based projects that contribute to the success of the business

Education & Prior Work Requirements:

• Previous related internship or work experience preferred
• Preferred degrees include economics, finance, international affairs or similar
• Bachelor’s degree is required

Skills, knowledge, and abilities/competencies:

• Ability to adapt and manage change and uncertainty
• Positive, solution-focused disposition
• Basic knowledge of economics, political and credit analysis, capital markets, financial math and macroeconomic concepts.
• Fluency in English is required with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
• Effectiveness in terms of coordination and follow-up
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Advanced user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Python is a plus.
• Proactive in information sharing and support of colleagues
• Strong self-initiative with ability to work well individually and in teams
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary is $75,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
