Overview and Essential Functions Overview As a full service telecommunications company, we specialize in building, maintaining, and managing some of the largest upgrades, rebuilds and new builds as well as a wide range of services including aerial and underground construction, structured wiring, fiber splicing, cable mining, and engineering for the fiber to the home market. Prince Telecom is currently hiring qualified Fiber Technicians to join our team to help connect America. Fiber optic splicers use special tools to manipulate cables and create new or maintain connections. They also troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems. What you’ll do… You will perform tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of fiber. You will test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation. You will self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications. You will field train and control/oversee the work of other Splicers when necessary. You will complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete "as-built maps" for areas built and track daily production. You will reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts. You will frequently work independently. Other splicing related duties as assigned. Safely use hand tools and other equipment required. Setting up a safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers. Flagging traffic when required.
