Basic Function: Responsible for all beverage service for the Club. Must be knowledgeable about wine and spirits and be able to offer suggestions to members.
Essential duties and responsibilities: The following job duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
- When experiencing idle time, offer assistance in the dining room with cocktail orders, wine-opening, clearing, resetting tables, etc.
- Assemble and serve drinks.
- Verify bill accuracy and handle all account charges from guests and members prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Must have complete product knowledge and be prepared to offer suggestions to enhance guest’s experience.
- Provide immediate attention to all members/guests upon seating.
- Set up bar with proper glassware and needed tools.
- Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Maintain bar inventory throughout shift.
- Keep tables and bar clean and tidy; clear empty glasses as needed.
- Stock bar with liquor, beer, wine, champagne, mixers, ice, fruits and vegetables.
- Perform all clean up and closing duties as assigned by manager.
- Attend pre-meal meetings as requested by dining room supervisor.
- Take members/guests orders and make suggestions as needed.
- Perform assigned side work.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with Members, their guests or other employees.
- Comply with all rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and/or established by the Board of Governors.
- Adhere to the Club’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
- Adhere to all stated policies and procedures.
- Maintain The Moorings Yacht & Country Club commitment to member satisfaction while performing job duties.
- Learn Members name in an effort to recognize individuals as they enter the Club.
- Attend pre-meal meetings as requested by dining room supervisor.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines.
- Must be cognizant of the rules and regulations of the facility for the safety and welfare of the staff and members.
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills:
- Strong communication and cooperative skills.
- Positive interpersonal, customer service skills.
- Ability to interact with a large and varied group of people including members and potential members in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge and Certificates: Prior bartending experience required as well as knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits.
Experience: Two years bartending experience required.
Physical Demands of Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met and/or encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Requires indoor and outdoor work.
- While performing duties of the job, employee is required to stand for most of their shift. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee is required to regularly kneel or crouch, bend, reach overhead and walk.
- Must be able to pull and lift up to fifteen (15) pounds regularly and occasionally up to forty (40) pounds.
- Weekends, holidays and evenings may be required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Machines/Equipment/Tools used:
- Two retractable pens, wine key, lighter, side towel and name tag (Club supplied).
- Uniform required (Club provided).
- CE Club Point of Sale software, Windows format, or other Club software as applicable.
Classification: Hourly, non-exempt.
Supervision: No supervisory duties are included in this position.
