Job Description
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking energetic and highly motivated Engineering Technicians to join our Battery Cell Manufacturing Development Team. You will support the engineering teams that are designing, developing, and commissioning our anode and cathode powdered material production processes and equipment.
What You’ll Do
  • Display a positive attitude and practice strong work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of Tesla.
  • Collect, report, and analyze the data from DOE’s and trial runs utilizing JMP.
  • Support the development of new and updated manufacturing instructions.
  • Support all engineering development activities for the cell materials manufacturing team.
  • Support various teams and engineers to improve quality, yield, and throughput of product.
  • Support operators and technicians on new equipment operation and processes.
  • Adhere to company policies of safety and conduct.
  • Help to develop, maintain, and implement process changes and control plans.
  • Escalate issues to both engineering, management, and quality teams when necessary.
  • Support other projects as needed by management as business needs change.
  • Execute design of experiments (DOE) and trial runs as designed by the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with various teams and engineers by providing detailed reports and observations.
  • Perform standard powder metrology testing.
What You’ll Bring
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Experience and or demonstrated proficiency with data / statistical analysis utilizing JMP/Minitab, R / Python, Tableau or similar data tools.
  • Knowledge in powder processing/manufacturing is highly desired, but not a requirement.
  • These positions will require initial travel and stay at our Pilot Production Facility in Fremont, CA.
  • Able to interpret process flow diagrams (PFD’s), and engineering drawings (Mechanical & Electrical).
  • Experience in an engineering lab or R&D environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Word.
  • Knowledge and experience with setting up DOE’s and operation of automated process equipment through human machine interfaces (HMI’s).
  • Bachelors, Associates or Certifications in engineering, engineering technology, and/or demonstrated equivalence in work experience associated with the role.
