As a Software Developer, you will play a crucial role within our Software Team, contributing to a diverse range of projects aimed at building web applications that promote the stewardship of natural resources, support healthy food systems, and empower communities. Primary Responsibilities
Writing Code To Specification (50%): Converting project specifications into tests and writing code to pass those tests.
Collaboration (25%): Working closely with teammates and partners to ensure project clarity and code repository commitments.
Writing and Maintaining Technical Documentation (15%): Creating documentation for developers, sysadmins, and the public.
General Responsibilities at Ecotrust (10%): Actively participating in team meetings, contributing to our strategic plan, and engaging in organizational change efforts, including promoting diversity and inclusion.

2+ Years of Professional Software Development Experience: Proficiency in one or more high-level Object-Oriented or Procedural programming languages, experience with *nix command line, relational databases, and technical documentation.
Effective Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in writing and during meetings, for both technical and non-technical audiences, across diverse backgrounds.
Diversity and Inclusion: Demonstrated competency in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles.
Respect for Security and Privacy: Prioritizing data and teammate security and privacy in your work.
Other Useful Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are desirable:
Languages: Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
Frameworks: Experience with Django and NodeJS.
GIS and Web Mapping: Familiarity with OpenLayers, QGIS, PostGIS, ArcREST, GeoPandas, and others.
Git and GitHub: Comfortable with tracking tickets, branching, merging, and pull requests.
UI/UX: Knowledge of responsive design, mobile design, aesthetics, and human-computer interaction.
Dev-Ops and Virtualization: Experience with CI/CD, AWS, SSL, Docker, Linux, and virtual environments.
Networks/Security: Familiarity with SSH, SSL, DNS, firewalls, encryption, and user permissions.
Science and Data: Experience with Pandas, matplotlib, d3js, and data visualization.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
