What You'll Do


The Emergency Department Technician will work Full Time, Nights and will assist in patient care throughout nursing areas and will be responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.


  • Transfers, moves, and repositions patients by utilizing transfer devices and equipment.
  • The ED Technician obtains specimens and transport to and sends through designated tube system.
  • The ED Technician labels samples correctly.
  • The Emergency Department Technician performs urine testing.
  • Appropriately documents care provided.
  • Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Assists with post mortem care including transport to the morgue
  • Keeps patients and families informed regularly and prn.
  • Performs 1-1 observation as assigned.
  • Answers call lights and attends to/reports patient needs.
  • The Emergency Department Technician provides the services of an observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety.
  • As an Emergency Department Technician, you will obtain weights, vital signs, reports and documents results electronically.
  • Observes and reports patient’s status and needs.
  • The Emergency Department Technician cleans stretchers/equipment and restocks supplies.
  • Makes occupied/unoccupied beds.
  • Performs Venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
  • The ED Technician assists patient with feeding/meals.
  • Assists patients with elimination needs.


Education


What we need from you


  • High school graduate or GED.


Licensure/Certificates


  • Training/equivalent experience as a nursing assistant, CNA, EMT, medical assistant preferred.
  • BLS completion and Basic Arrhythmia Course prior to completing orientation.


Experience


  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.


Skills


  • Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
  • Category 1 exposure risk as defined by OSHA.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and computers preferred.
  • Ability to lift and position patients.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Exposure to body fluids.
  • Walking, standing, squatting and kneeling required.
  • Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
