Job Description

Liftoff is seeking a talented Email Manager to join a new and growing team.


Liftoff is a new digital fundraising and communications firm. Our clients are statewide and local political campaigns, advocates, non-profits, and change-making organizations working to advance Democratic priorities.


Our ideal candidate has a track record of working collaboratively with colleagues, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize time to meet deadlines for multiple projects. Our ideal candidate will also demonstrate a willingness to jump in on email and SMS strategy execution at all levels - they’re not above any task, and are also willing to take on projects they haven’t faced before. We value individuals who are comfortable admitting what they don’t know, are excited to learn new skills, and who work hard to overcome obstacles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Achieving clients’ fundraising and engagement goals;
  • Providing feedback and offering mentorship to to a growing email team
  • Oversee the design, execution and reporting on landing page, copy, and user experience tests;
  • Oversee the database work associated with list growth, including but not limited to list buys, rentals, and sends from allied organizations and entities;
  • Oversee the development of weekly reports, recommendations, and insights;
  • Overseeing the onboarding process for growing email and SMS lists
  • Manage client review process, including editing, redrafting, and quality-control review;
  • Providing top-quality customer service to clients, including regular reporting;
  • Guiding email team on email optimizations and best practices
  • Manage the formal copy-editing process;
  • Managing and overseeing data segmentation to achieve maximum ROI
  • Manage database as it pertains to ROI and source code reports;
  • Oversee email and SMS production including coding, testing, segmentation, and database maintenance;
  • Work with advertising team to produce digital revenue forecasts that outline projected revenue month-by-month;
  • Advise clients on industry best practices and emerging strategies;
  • Overseeing the workflow and quality assurance process for email and SMS fundraising programs across multiple accounts
  • Developing and implementing online fundraising and communication strategies for clients email and SMS programs including calendaring, copywriting, loading, testing, segmentation, reporting, forecasting, and database maintenance;


Experience we look for:

  • Basic understanding of long term lead performance tracking;
  • Excellent quantitative reasoning skills and ability to apply data to strategic decisions;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a client-facing capacity under pressure;
  • Experience overseeing multiple email programs at once;
  • 5-6 years of work experience with at least 1 campaign cycle of experience in a dedicated email fundraising role and 2 years of experience in a role managing people and projects;
  • Experience building and executing project plans to achieve fundraising and communications goals;
  • At least 2 years of experience working at a digital fundraising agency;
  • Experience working at an agency; working with or at non-profits or political/issue campaigns;
  • Experience using one of the following email CRMs: NGP, Everyaction, Actionkit;
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment;
  • An understanding of campaign communications strategy and strong political instincts;
  • Passion for good causes, whether candidates or other;


Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is $75,000 - $85,000
