Job Summary
The Safety Specialist works to support the EHS team to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the health, safety, and environmental conditions of our facilities and staff. Under the direction and guidance of the EHS Manager, this position acts to organize, maintain, and coordinate all aspects of the EHS program. An ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, critical thinking, an eagerness to learn and grow, and be focused on providing outstanding service to the EHS team, and to our internal customers. This is a hands-on role, and that requires engagement with national teams.

Requirements:Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Organize and order safety & environmental supplies as needed.
- Record Keeping: maintain detailed and organized records regarding workplace injuries, OSHA compliance, environmental and safety permitting, hazardous waste collection, material handling, SDS, safety training, and other administrative operations.
- Follow up on incident reporting, which includes near miss events.
- Contributes to the planning of and executing safety goals
- Coordinate with facilities staff and local branch leadership to organize planned resolution for safety and environmental discrepancies.
- Lead and participate in safety meetings for key sites, at the direction of the EHS Manager
- Coordinate the site-specific safety plans and Emergency Action Plans annually.
- Interface with employees, vendors, and contractors to coordinate safety site visits, inspections, trainings, or other activities.
- Coordinate with facilities team and branch leadership to ensure completion of annual facilities safety inspections including annual crane certifications, fire sprinkler tests, back flow testing, etc.
- Ensure accurate assignment and record keeping of CBT training to all employees.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail, ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
- Ability to participate in meetings and leading them when necessary.
- Basic budgeting skills, some knowledge or experience with accounting processes
- Demonstrated understanding of diversity in the workplace
- Knowledge of general safety and environmental regulations.
- Preferred some knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to foster trusting relationships across all levels of the business.
- In depth and up to date knowledge of Microsoft programs including Teams, Excel, & Word
- Creative problem solving, analytic and critical thinking, self-motivated and self-directed.
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a diverse team.
Education and Experience Requirements
- 3 or more years’ experience in a safety position.
- Associate degree in safety or equivalent education, or 2 years additional experience.
- Preferred experience working in organizations focused on field service, industrial or manufacturing environments.
Other Requirements (travel, schedule, own tools, company car, etc.)
- This is a full-time position with standard hours Monday through Friday.
- Ability to work during non-standard hours when the need arises.
- Drivers’ license, passport, personal vehicle, and a clean driving record.
- The position requires frequent interstate travel throughout the US. 50-75% of the time.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to bend, lift, push or pull to manage field conditions.
- Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, warehouse and shop environments and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.
- Must be able to alternate between long hours of sitting and long hours of standing and walking.
