Job Description

PPCCC is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 35,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.


JOB SUMMARY:


The bilingual Education Programs Manager is responsible for the implementation of the assigned region’s community education programs and activities which can include education and training, outreach, and other community services and programs. The Community Education Manager is an integral part of the Community Engagement Department, overseeing the evidence-based program implementation team, under the Director of Education.


This is a hybrid position that can be located in Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, or Santa Maria Health Center.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Provide leadership, training, and direction to the program educators
  • Collect and report program feedback from program participants, community stakeholders, and Program Advisory Council to modify program delivery or content
  • Assist the Director of Education with the writing and monitoring of program budget(s)
  • Cultivate and retain new and existing contractors, community partners and host sites to offer and expand programming to achieve grant and organizational strategic goals in collaboration with community health educators
  • Participate in evaluation activities that assess the quality of programming, including administering evaluation surveys to program participants and providing program stakeholder weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Collect and report program participant demographics and contact data utilizing data-tracking tools to reach grant deliverables
  • Aid in the development and updating of curricula and community resources under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Education
  • Deliver education services and presentations through an array of platforms, including in-person and virtual (Zoom, Google Meets, WebEx, etc.), and be able to troubleshoot for basic technical challenges of the platform
  • Recruit and hire staff and volunteers; directly supervise program educators and volunteers; conduct performance evaluations
  • Schedule and deliver medically accurate, age-appropriate, bias-free, trauma-informed, and developmentally, culturally, and linguistically-appropriate sex education to groups of varying ages, cultures, identities, and backgrounds, with the increased focus on low-resource communities
  • Develop and implement affiliate’s approved sexual health education programming with fidelity, including the TPP grant-funded evidence-based curricula for youth and other stakeholders


Qualifications


Must have excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills


Desire and ability to supervise program participants and work with youth, parents, teachers, and other professionals


Excellent communication skills, including writing, and public speaking, and demonstrated ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and or boards of directors


Ability to delegate and empower staff through team-building techniques


Prior knowledge of social justice issues, public policy, and legal requirements pertaining to reproductive and sexual health preferred


Candidate must travel within PPCCC geographic area (Thousand Oaks to San Luis Obispo) as needed


Travel is required and must have a valid CA driver’s license, reliable automobile transportation and insurance in accordance with California DMV requirements.


EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE


Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or two (2) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


Experience providing presentations on evidence-based education, sexual, and reproductive health issues or other health topics


Experience with reproductive health and justice issues is strongly preferred


Fluent verbal and written English and Spanish language skills are required. Mixteco language skills are a plus.


Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites, Salesforce, and other cloud platforms as needed.


Proficiency in virtual conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, WebEx, etc.


Planned Parenthood California Central Coast’s (PPCCC’s) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels. The starting salary for this position is $33.54 with the opportunity for advancement. As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.


Pay Differential: $0.50/hour bilingual Spanish/English differential pay is offered upon passing the language assessment test.
