This position is responsible for logistics execution management, focused on direct to consumer (DTC) network operations to ensure Scotts branded products are distributed on time and at the lowest possible cost. Activities will include analysis of DTC warehouse and parcel carrier performance, capacity planning, shipment execution, and provider/carrier collaboration. Understands and promotes a safe and compliant warehouse operation. Ensures freedom to operate through the enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures, company policy, all legal/regulatory considerations, and company/regional Safety and Quality procedures.


This role will be remote position but will need to be Ohio base.


Detailed Description:


  • Provides support for warehousing network changes, system installations, new product launches, and product transitions.
  • Incorporates industry best practices and continuous improvement for Direct to Consumer strategic roadmap, including the expansion of technology and locations for network optimization.
  • Owns the relationship between the 3PL providers and all Scotts corporate business partners (Direct to Consumer, Business Development Teams, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales) to promote exceptional service through our direct to consumer platforms while maintaining efficient distribution operations.
  • Drives DTC Warehouse effectiveness and efficiency improvements with data based analyses (metrics) and recommendations using quality management techniques. Develops specific performance objectives and performance measures for warehouse operations.
  • Oversees the warehouse leadership to ensure that warehouse resource allocation safely accomplishes the work required to satisfy customer needs, evaluates performance, provides feedback to associates as needed
  • Provides daily/weekly/monthly distribution and logistics reporting


DTC Specific responsibilities:


  • Receiving: Oversees schedules and supervises the receipt of products delivered to the warehouse. Oversees safe and efficient product placement in warehouse locations and the completion of system entries to insure inventory accuracy
  • Shipping: Oversees, evaluates and plans the shipping that must occur on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to fulfill the orders placed by customers. Determines the overall daily shipping requirements, assigns tasks to associates, determines shipping methods and routings, monitors and evaluates progress, makes adjustments as needed.
  • Teamwork: Performs other duties and/ or responsibilities as assigned. Fosters a team environment and engages associates to drive superior performance. Works with production sites to ensure quality, demand, and production requirements are being met to customer expectations. Develops a proactive approach to people and engaging them on a regimented basis.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains overall responsibility for inventory management and control, ensuring accuracy. Oversees cycle counts, audits, evaluates historical inventory data and collaborates with purchasing and finance to maximize service and margins. Works to exceed financial and operative inventory metrics. Monitors waste and develops ways to reduce it.
  • Logistics: Oversees loading, scheduling and delivery options to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Maintains working relationships with truckload, LTL and small parcel carriers to ensure service metrics are met


Job Requirements:


  • Strong business acumen, with a solid record of leading change and delivering results.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communications, organization, consulting, resource management and technology utilization skills.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of distribution and warehouse operations, Direct to Consumer operations or logistics experience.

  • Analytical experience and knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures within a manufacturing CPG company and general knowledge of retail business a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, supply chain management, operations, finance or other related degrees.
  • Ability to lead, engage, and develop warehouse leadership to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Strong business acumen, with a solid record of leading change and delivering results.
  • Expert knowledge of warehouse operations. SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) preferred
  • Exposure to compliance and safety requirements associated with the management of a warehouse operation.
  • Flexibility to accommodate 50%+- travel is required based on business need.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with 3PL provider leadership to help deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Expert knowledge of safety management in a warehouse environment.


The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $105,700.00-124,300.00. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
