POSITION PURPOSE
Manages, directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in procurement, inventory management and control, as well as shipping/receiving.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Manages material logistics associated with supplying materials for aircraft repair and maintenance.
- Attends daily planning meetings to provide explanation for materials issues.
- Manages inventory of materials, parts and finished product to maintain required supply.
- Monitors attendance, vacation approvals and overall coverage of Material Service Department.
- Insures compliance to Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods regulatory requirements as they pertain to all materials.
- Insures training is accomplished for each associate for Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUP). Guides the department in maintaining a proactive vigilance and awareness of its responsibility to prevent the introduction of any SUP component into the company’s aircraft spare parts inventory.
- Manages shipping and receiving of all materials, to include that making sure that equipment and parts are packaged, labeled and shipped correctly.
- Manages fleet spares provisioning process ensuring an optimum availability of needed aircraft components while balancing desired service level with available funding.
- Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential employees. Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports. Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.
- Insures proper storage, identification and segregation of parts. Oversees shelf life program and insures that shelf life is not exceeded.
- Responsible for Heavy Check materials staff and inventory at BNA (Nashville, TN) location.
- Ensures compliance with hazardous materials/dangerous goods regulations. Ensures all associates complete and maintain training in safety, HAZMAT, parts systems, SITA airport access for vehicles, etc.
- Collaborates with other departments such as purchasing, planning and AOG to ensure proper inventory controls.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
- Possess basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and Word.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Must be able to operate forklifts and other machinery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related area plus one year of materials experience, or a High School diploma or GED and 6 years of experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to pass and remain current on HAZMAT Dangerous Goods Handling course.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in aviation or supply chain preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
DECISION MAKING
Makes day to day decisions used to support strategic direction. Decisions often require some thought and are somewhat structured. Decisions tend to be short term and usually of moderate cost.

Able to focus with clear vision at 20 inches or less (computer screen).
Able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Work near moving mechanical parts, around fumes and in high or precarious places.
- Work in an open air hangar up to 100% of the time.
- Exposed to moderate noise.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel. Able to work a schedule that supports 24 hour operations.
