Dispatch And Customer Service Representative - Fcl Drayage Trucking

Job Responsibilities:

• Respond to high volume of communications daily
• Liaise between our vendors and customers to assure the smooth execution of shipments and the agreed rate
• Monitor industry trends and how key factors impact business strategies for our company and our customers
• Request and audit all necessary shipping and carrier documents
• Work with management to ensure alignment with company strategy in forecasting and business plans
• Communicate with network of drayage carriers to request rates and availability, dispatch load assignments, and manage scheduling/completion of shipments
• Dispatch and confirm shipments in our Transportation Management System (TMS)
• Monitor carrier movement from shipper to receiver to ensure shipments are picked up/delivered on time and in the intended condition
• Closely monitor shipments, always striving towards defect free service for our customers
• Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
• Seek, vet, and on-board additional drayage vendors based on market needs
• Ensure timely update of shipment milestones into our TMS
• Advise customers of any variances including additional charges, revised dates/times, and updated requirements
• Provide feedback regarding carrier performance

Job Requirements:

• 1 year of recent experience within the transportation industry, preferably with an NVOCC/Freight Forwarder, FCL drayage carrier, or terminal (port or railroad)
• Excellent customer service, communication (both verbal & written), problem solving and negotiation skills are required
• High degree of initiative and independent execution
• Ability to perform in a high speed, deadline-driven environment with rapidly changing priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
