Job Description
The Director of Student Success will develop and implement programs that foster student success in the College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy Program. This includes leading and managing efforts in academic planning, enrollment services, addressing student needs, and navigating curricular expectations and standards.


Academic Planning


Maintain extensive knowledge of relevant academic programs and resources. Develop internal and external advising tools and resources in collaboration with advising staff, faculty, departments, and colleges. Advise students regarding departmental, collegiate, and University policies and procedures; programs of study; and the development of appropriate academic plans.


  • Lead academic advising for the PharmD program. Includes working with faculty mentors and creating tools for advising.
  • Advise certificate and combined degree students and any student requiring special assistance with advising (e.g., students needing to withdraw or repeat courses).
  • Advise international students and manage visa, clinical practical training, and other documentation.


Enrollment Management


Analyze course enrollment reports. Develop, maintain, and monitor reports to support program goals. Develop new or more detailed reporting tools. Participate in designing projects or processes to increase program value. Plan, implement, and assess programs and activities.


  • Lead course registration process and analyze course enrollment data.
  • Serve as Academic Departmental Administrator and Academic Workflow DDEO in MAUI; Approve course grades via MAUI.
  • Liaise with the office of student financial aid, the office of the registrar, and student disability services.


Academic Standards and Curricular Policies


Administer program policies and procedures. Evaluate individual requests for exceptions to curricular requirements based on established criteria. Identify recurring problems that may require further study. Participate in designing, planning, and/or teaching educational programs for the PharmD program.


  • Analyze student performance data and present it to Student Success and Progression committee.
  • Monitor the progression of PharmD Students.
  • Identify and address student needs related to the program and direct students to university resources to aid in the student’s success.


Academic Program Management


Oversee planning of program events. Engage in curricular development and administrative oversight for the PharmD program.


  • Lead commencement planning team in collaboration with the OPE team.
  • Plan and execute Career Day, Career Expo, and Interview Day.
  • Coordinate student awards program.


Budget Oversight and Management


Develop and monitor financial reports to assess alignment with program goals. Administer tutor program budget and monitor expenditures. May provide functional and administrative supervision. May hire, develop and manage the performance of staff; assure staff is compliant with UI policies and procedures.


  • Hire, develop, and manage tutors and supplemental instruction program.
  • Oversee budgets for student leadership council and student organizations.
  • Manage budget for career development and mentoring program.

Education Requirement


  • Master’s degree in education, analytics, or education-related field and a minimum of one year of experience. Or Bachelor’s degree in education, analytics, or education-related field and a minimum of three years of experience.


Experience Required


  • Ability to counsel and assist students with course selection, study skills and/or career preparation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
  • Knowledge of course arrangement and academic planning.
  • Experience working with students in higher education.
  • Experience working with university educational tools to assist with admissions, advising, registrar, billing, and financial aid.
  • Ability to manage educational or instructional programs, extracurricular activities, or academic planning.


Desirable Qualifications


  • Previous supervisory experience including experience supervising students.
  • Master’s degree in student development, counseling, higher education administration, education, or related field.
  • Experience coordinating events.
  • Knowledge of university policies, procedures, and regulations.
