Position Title: Director of Product Management | FutureLab (Learning & Development)
Location: Atlanta, GA/Remote
Reports to: VP Future Innovation
Job Summary:
The Director of Product Management, FutureLab is a new, high impact & influential role within Newell’s Learning and Development business that will make significant contributions to our now, near and far innovation pipeline as we bring new technology enabled and contemporary products and experiences to life for our consumers.
As well as adding vision, new thinking and thought leadership to our writing and baby brands you will be part of the introduction of Product Management discipline into the Newell Organization managing the full life cycle of digital/technology products from inception through to post-launch feature implementation.
In this role you will be responsible for identifying consumer insight & industry foresight informed opportunities and concept solutions for future physical, digital, and connected products. You will apply your understanding of the consumer technology space to shape new and dynamic ways to expand our business, increase brand engagement and unlock new revenue streams.
Leveraging your commercial experience and knowledge of the digital landscape from mobile applications and the app store, AR through to Metaverse and AI you will be part of a team plotting out the future vision for a number of globally recognized brands and how they evolve in the next 5 years while managing the development and product life cycle of more near-term products in the digital and connected product space.
The powerful ability to marry industry foresights and consumer insights with brand strategy and product vision will be key to the success of this position and you will work closely with cross-functional partners in the R&D, brand marketing, consumer insights, commercial and compliance teams to deliver results.
Reporting to the Vice President of Future Innovation this role requires a contemporary business mind-set to work effectively leveraging agile methodologies, user analytics, with the broader goal of delivering products that deliver a gross margin at or accretive to the business divisions goals.
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- College degree in a relevant field of business or product development - MBA a bonus.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in product management, R&D, innovation management.
- Demonstrated ability to translate consumer insights and understanding into strategies and new products.
- Experience in hardware/firmware/digital product development and launch.
- A strong product sensibility with a digital mindset and understanding of the connected product space.
- Proven experience and success in the Branded Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) space.
- Demonstrated success in white space identification, problem definition and delivering innovation with sustained results to the market.
- Experience collaborating with other disciplines within a fast-moving marketing, development, and commercial organization.
- Skills and experience in user data analysis and performance metrics and applying them to improve/optimize products and increase use and sales over time.
- Experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams to successful outcomes.
- Ability to develop frameworks and processes to continuously monitor and assess customer needs, the competitive landscape, and other key intelligence to influence business strategies
- Demonstrated commercial orientation and ability to influence business strategy by understanding and proactively communicating implications of trends and delivering actionable insights that drive profitable business outcomes and value to consumers.
- Experience of working in a high growth, big thinking & fast paced environment
- A continuous curiosity about drivers of consumer habits and behaviors.
- Outstanding communication skills verbally, visually and in presentations to teams and leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders & influence them to deliver the business goals
