Senior Director, Product Management

We’re looking for a Senior Director, Product Management to be responsible for all activities related to the strategic, operational and financial aspects of Danco’s existing products (core plumbing repair and new growth categories) as well as its multi-year product roadmap across all of our product categories. This critical role requires strategic thought leadership, strong people leadership, management skills and a solid understanding of the operational and financial aspects of sustainably delivering strong performance for our customers and our business owners. We primarily sell thru the retail channel and we pride ourselves on winning and maintaining new product placements that consistently meets and exceeds the needs of consumers, delivers strong financial results for our retail customers, and attractive returns for our business. The Senior Director, Product Management will have a strong understanding of consumer needs and research as well as a proven track record building healthy relationships with retail merchants and merchandising executives grounded in “win-win” product lines and associated economics for both the retailer and Danco. T his role w ill partner with a number of key cross-functional partners, including sales, insights & analytics, finance, engineering, quality, sourcing and supply planning. In addition , the Senior Director, Product Management will partner closely with Sales leadership to create and successfully execute against a 5 years strategic growth plan and budget with P&L management for all product categories of the business.


This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Sales & Strategic Planning and will also be a member of the Danco Executive Team, working closely with the CEO to create strategy, build culture and team and consistently deliver strong financial performance while building long-term relationships with our customers and vendor partners.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities


  • Works closely with the SVP of Sales & Strategic Planning in developing the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve stated goals, including profitable sales growth.
  • Works closely with the sales function to help develop and deliver strategic selling presentations to buying teams of various channels of distribution.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and management of the market research/analysis/brand
  • Provides strategic direction for and ensures consistent successful execution of the product development stage gate process and associated documentation including the preparation of business cases to gain funding and organizational alignment.
  • Lead the Product Management team to ensure the organization is able to execute the growth strategies and tactics on time and on budget.
  • Working with internal key stakeholders, develops operating budgets to support key initiatives for each fiscal year.
  • Works closely with the R&D function to help develop and deliver new product innovation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners, including Engineering, Sourcing, Ecommerce, etc. to ensure prioritization and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Directs team to ensure sku level or product category profitability and reviews on a consistent basis for achievement of targets and additional optimization opportunities, including market price analysis, life cycle management, new product introduction and redesign / cost out improvements, etc.


Qualifications/Skills And Knowledge Requirements


  • Retail experience required, preferably with Home Center, Mass retailers and Hardware, Co-Op channels. Knowledge of the plumbing industry preferred
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals
  • Must work effectively with Senior-level executives, cross-functional leaders, retail merchandising teams and other key stakeholders of the business
  • Broad functional experience in strategic, financial planning, product management, marketing, business, market development, market research and merchandising
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in building, maintaining, optimizing product categories or businesses
