Director of Traditional Foodservice Sales


Position Overview:

Johnsonville, a privately-held company for over 75 years, has an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to join our Foodservice Business Unit as the Director of Traditional Foodservice Sales. This is a key, strategic position reporting to the Sr. Director of the Foodservice Business Unit at Johnsonville. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Help craft the foodservice sales strategy
  • Impact and influence the organization around foodservice sales and key growth platforms
  • Leverage the resources of a successful company and build upon the Johnsonville Brand
  • Build people and develop future leaders and a high performing foodservice traditional sales team while working collaboratively with other functional teams
  • Grow the Johnsonville brand through foodservice distributors and relevant operator segments including Independent Operators, Mid-Scale and Family Restaurants, Casual Restaurants, Contract Management, C&U, Healthcare, Lodging, Vending, Cash & Carry and Local, Regional, Emerging and National Chains
  • Drive to uncover insights and leverage them into new product/business opportunities
  • Lead the execution of all traditional foodservice sales plans and initiatives with our direct sales team as well as with our broker network while applying your knowledge of the foodservice industry to achieve significant business results


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Johnsonville Traditional Foodservice Sales Team to the next level of world-class sales while developing best in class customer relationships
  • Deliver the Foodservice Business Unit annual budget/plan against all key metrics
  • Position Johnsonville to be the leader in understanding operator and consumer insights within foodservice
  • Develop the skills, capabilities, careers, and overall level of teamwork of the Traditional Foodservice Sales Team
  • Lead and participate in the strategic planning processes (IBP) that identify the actions needed to achieve key financial targets
  • Work closely with all key constituents to optimize our CRM platform and other technologies to drive sales while enhancing our customer relationships to make Johnsonville that indispensable business partner
  • Understand trends, demographic information, competitive and market research data, consumer insights, and more to drive sales within the Foodservice Industry
  • Create an environment of trust, teamwork and collaboration within the Traditional Foodservice Sales, Marketing, and Research and Development (R&D( teams.
  • Work closely with Marketing and R&D to develop new products or product improvements
  • Lead the Traditional Foodservice Sales Team to become a world-class foodservice sales organization that results in Johnsonville being the unquestioned leader in sausage within foodservice


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred


Experience:

  • Proven experience building new and existing relationships with those in key strategic decision-making leadership positions cross-functionally at key distributors and chains
  • Demonstrated leadership experience building people and high performing teams
  • Successful track record of bringing new foodservice products from concept to commercialization
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of foodservice experience leading a foodservice team or business unit
  • Experience with a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company that has a strong foodservice business

  • Skilled at collaboration, teaching and transferring knowledge
  • Highly entrepreneurial and possesses a positive can-do attitude
  • In depth knowledge of the Foodservice Industry to include chain accounts, distributors, GPO’s and key operator segments
  • Strong financial acumen and P&L experience
  • Willingness to provide both strategic leadership and day-to-day support to achieve key foodservice strategies
  • Intense level of curiosity, creativity, strategic thinking and drive for results
  • Demonstrated personal growth and development throughout career


Other Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
