The Director of Technology and Operations Strategy and Planning will collaborate across all levels of leadership to drive, enable, and support Technology and Operations transformation and evolving strategic vision. This role will drive alignment and communication of strategic efforts, measure their performance, and proactively address misalignment. This Director is both a strategist, consultant, and a trusted advisor who drives successful execution and continuous improvement.
This role will present to all levels of the organization including Premera's Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors. The Director of Technology and Operations Strategy and Planning will demonstrate high competency in strategic and systems thinking, project management, communication, leadership, financial management and oversight, and a hygienic rhythm of business coordination across the organization.
The Director of Technology and Operations Strategy and Planning will enhance and extend the effectiveness of the CTOO function by owning and researching strategy to enable Premera Technology and Operations to meet business objectives and lead from the front. This position reports directly to the Chief Technology & Operations Officer and serves as a role model for Premera's Values and Technology and Operations Leadership Attributes.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with other leaders to synthesize and integrate work plans and resources while managing conflicting priorities across project portfolios and distributed team members.
- In cooperation with Employee Experience, own and drive the divisional workforce planning process that prioritizes and coalesces company and department strategies along with forward-thinking talent and skilling imperatives.
- Consult and partner with Officers and Directors across the division to identify key divisional initiatives and programs outlined in strategic alternatives and recommend portfolio or program approach from business case through implementation/execution.
- Own and drive divisional Objectives and Key results development, defining agreed-upon metrics, tracking, and reporting progress.
- Define and drive preparation and communications for key meetings involving the CTOO, including ELT and Board of Director meetings, town halls, scorecard reviews, director, and manager sessions.
- Lead the annual budget and strategy cycle by identifying and driving critical Technology & Operations modernization imperatives that enable, support, and align with Premera’s strategic goals.
- Lead, mentor, and coach a customer-focused team of individual contributors accountable for delivery and execution.
- Be an active participant in and provide strategic support for the CTOO Leadership Team, including facilitation of focused discussions, development of timely, relevant agendas, and driving and tracking of decisions and follow-up items.
- As part of this role, you may be assigned internal controls derived from Premera’s internal controls framework. You will be accountable for understanding the controls assigned to you, their impacts on Premera, and to ensure that they are operating effectively.
- Represent CTOO internally and externally, including BCBSA and other industry forums.
- Create alignment and support the division’s operational effectiveness by serving as a conduit of knowledge and understanding between Officers and disciplines.
- Hire, manage, and lead a customer-focused team that may include people leaders and individual contributors to deliver excellent service and value to the organization.
- Centrally manage operational expenses of Technology and Operations division.
What you will bring:
- Master’s degree in business, health care management or related field. (Preferred)
- Ten years of experience consulting in a business-to-business environment, with a proven focus on strategic planning and execution of key corporate initiatives. (Required)
- Ten years of healthcare experience, with an understanding of the healthcare industry, including factors influencing industry participants, or seven years. in a top-tier management consulting firm. (Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, computer science, or related field or four years of work experience. (Required)
