Make your mark for patients
To help us meet our ambitions and provide the best solutions to patients, UCB is hiring the Patient Access and Affordability Operations Lead role. This role can be remote and will be responsible for aligning patient services data, operations, marketing and strategy across patient engagement, access, marketing and affordability and translate patient services strategic business priorities into streamlined operations and actionable insights. This position will lead a team of direct reports and works across all immunology brands in all indicated therapeutic areas. The Patient Access and Affordability Strategy Lead will reside in the U.S. Immunology Patient Value Unit and report to the Head of Patient Services, US Immunology.
The successful incumbent will be tasked with shaping, developing, and translating fully integrated portfolio-centric strategic priorities that elevate Customer Experience through the lens of access and affordability solutions at the Immunology franchise level. In addition, the role will be responsible with partnering with internal data/analytics teams to execute development of data capabilities.
Summary of Key Job Responsibilities:
Access & Affordability Solutions: (80%)
Manage external relationships with current and future access and affordability vendor partners and alignment and coordination with key internal functions. This person will be responsible for elevating and transforming patient support services that drive UCB market leadership and create a competitively differentiated customer and patient experience. Successful candidates will have established experience of key components such as: technology enabled innovations that improve customer and patient experience and speed to therapy; patient services data governance and executing strategic data initiatives; and the development of new resource offerings and transformational patient support messaging.
- Establish data management service level agreements and monitor vendor progress against the agreements
- Ensure the execution of access and affordability programs alleviate market barriers, align to the competitive environment and support business objectives across Immunology
- Create, optimize and implement tools that drive conversion to patients on treatment
- Cross-functional collaboration with Brand Marketing, Sales Leadership, Market Access, Information Technology, Legal and Compliance teams
- Management and responsibility for the access and affordability patient support programs including but not limited to HUB, Bridge, PAP, and Copay programs
- Assure strategic alignment and coordination across partners new innovative first to market access and affordability programs
- Manage program content through the UCB Review Committee process
- Oversee the implementation of specialty pharmacy service and data agreements
- Leverage technology to improve the customer and patient experience and speed to therapy
- Implement plans that improve the operational efficiency of patient support programs
- Partner with UCB Information Technology to maximize the value of consumable data for reporting, operational and performance analytics.
- Lead the strategic design and implementation for the immunology patient access and affordability support programs
- Manage the data flow between all patient services partners ensuring data integrity and service level agreements are adhered to
- Provide regular updates to department senior leadership on program performance, as well as coordinate and facilitate monthly and quarterly business reviews
- Measure and analyze key performance metrics related to patient access and affordability programs
Patient Support Training: (20%)
- Collaborate with the Immunology Field Training Department to build and execute training on the UCB Immunology patient support programs including access, affordability and engagement solutions
- Identify patient support training and development needs for immunology field-based personnel and vendor customer facing access and affordability teams.
- Develop and maintain updated training content and agendas for new hire training, follow-up training and sales/launch meetings and manage training content through the UCB Review Committee process
- Develop and deliver instructor led training programs on patient treatment barriers including insurance coverage, reimbursement, affordability, engagement and other pertinent issues that impact the patient’s treatment plan

EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience working with key internal stakeholders, including marketing and sales teams, legal, market access, privacy, and compliance with ability to influence without authority and successfully collaborate with cross-functional teams
- At least 5+ year(s) in a role managing services to help patients gain access to and/or use a specialty branded drug and/or device is required
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor(s) refinement of program offerings that meet corporate requirements and execute within established timelines. including but not limited to business rules updates, data integration, contracting, and budget management
- Proven understanding of both buy & bill and specialty pharmacy treatment pathways and an in-depth understanding of potential reimbursement, access, and coverage barriers.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
- Solid speaking, writing, and presentation skills. Ability to present to groups of all sizes, sometimes at short notice
- Minimum 2+ years of proven people leadership/management experience
- BS/BA degree required; MBA preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
