Job Description

The Director, Quality is a steward of one of our Otis Absolutes. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for Otis Americas Quality organization. This role will be responsible for the overall Quality Management System designed to meet customer requirements and enhance their satisfaction while minimizing risks and costs. This role will also develop and execute strategies, processes, systems, and tools to achieve this goal, and will work cross functionally to influence and deliver sustainable improvements across the organization.


Job Responsibilities:

Drive Continuous Improvement in Factory, Supplier and Field Operations Quality through a combination of:

- Deploying and leading Otis Performance Excellence across all functional areas of our business

- Holding leaders for achieving their quality metrics

- Training (internally and externally)

  • Provide periodic updates to Executive Leadership Team
  • Create a workplace environment & culture which enables the department to retain and attract new, qualified and diverse talent to the organization.
  • Support the Product Development Process
  • Drive standardization of a Quality Management System across the organization and ensure awareness and adherence to stated policies and procedures via a comprehensive communication, training, and audit plan, resulting in a strong culture of quality and prevention of quality issues. Build internal networks across Field Operations, Engineering, Factory and Supply Chain to create a shared vision and collaborative partnership to achieve quality targets.
  • Drive program management rigor and continuous process improvement in developing, validating and executing solutions that resolve quality service performance issues. Respond to issues with a sense of urgency, utilizing appropriate analysis tools and systems to identify root cause and corrective action.
  • Develop technical depth and credibility recognized by customers and manage customer relationships at multiple levels of their organization.


Requirements:


  • Proficient in root cause analysis tools (Pareto, 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishakawa, FMEA, Solution Tree, 8D, A3), Lean principles, Six Sigma methodology
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, quality, operations, manufacturing, engineering, technology or related discipline
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization from senior leadership to mechanics
  • A strong customer service mindset and experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with the ability to influence all levels of customer organizations
  • Effective track record and experience collaborating and influencing senior leaders and across functional teams
  • Strong technical skills, commercial skills, customer facing experience, and business acumen
  • VDA Certified, TS 1948 Compliant, RRCA
  • Minimum of 8 years of Quality or Operations experience preferably within field service or a factory environment
  • Previous experience in a Quality Director role is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience including building and leading complex and large professional matrix teams
  • Prior Field Services, Operations, Engineering, and/or Quality experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through team/talent management, strategic problem solving, strategy development and conflict resolution
