Job Description
We’re hiring a Director of Operations for the State of Florida, an affiliate of Rite of Passage.

Essential Functions


  • Oversees and directs the activities of the Florida Residential Operations.
  • Performs as a member of the Quality Assurance evaluation team. Continually audits the Florida - Rite of Passage programs to ensure that state contractual standards and licensing are met and maintained
  • Monitors internal teams and external resources working on the strategic initiatives and proactively works with other leaders to coordinate activities and control costs.
  • Participates in the development of regional strategic plans, goals and objectives. Works with Executive Director in operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Continually analyzes elements of the Florida programs to generate improvements and greater effectiveness, making recommendations to the Executive Director. Assists with the correction of deficiencies and quality improvement efforts of the Florida Residential Programs.
  • Guides and monitors the overall workflow of the region from a high-level perspective.
  • Meetings: all required state regulation meetings on Florida Juvenile Justice.
  • Participates and lends expertise in new acquisitions and start-up endeavors.
  • Assists with the correction of deficiencies and quality improvement efforts.
  • Serves as the Executive Director in his/her absence, including operations, and admissions for all of the Florida programs.
  • Ensures the highest standards are maintained to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and to ensure the program remains in compliance with any applicable agency licensing and Rite of Passage policies and procedures.
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates various projects, programs and services. May administer or manage specific projects and/or programs and recommends and assists in installing improved methods and procedures.
  • Supervised Staff: (if applicable) Responsible for hiring, evaluations, commendations, reprimands and dismissals; reviews and approves time and attendance; and mentors and develops employees by conducting training sessions and action plans.
  • Complies with and implements the Rite of Passage Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals/handbooks.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, establishes and maintains annual budgets for Florida - Rite of Passage sites and programs.
  • Promotes a customer-oriented focus and advocates positive client relationships.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Ability to perform work with little or no supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of overall company operations and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Five years of child care agency management experience. (Knowledge and experience with Florida Department of Juvenile Justice systems) preferred
  • BA/BS degree in related field. (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to interview potential employees if required.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
  • Must be an eligible ROP driver. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
  • Ability to utilize resources available to complete assigned projects.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with the possibility of a varied schedule.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
