Director of Operations, North America 1

Essential Functions/Duties:

Locations Considered: Mexico, Troy, MI or Windsor, ON

In observance of HBPO North America’s vision, mission, and quality policy, fostering the company’s values of entrepreneurship, network synergies & cooperation, focus, process control, and within the budgetary constraints to act in close collaboration with the President of HBPO North America and the Global Director Industrial Operations:

  • Lead risk mitigation and problem-solving activities with the plant managers, IE, LO, QM teams. This includes direct interfacing at times with customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Establish, document and continuously optimize resource planning, management of internal / external audit execution and the resulting corrective actions
  • Assist in providing monthly variance explanations – budget, forecast, to actuals as required. This includes financial KPIs and Balance Scorecard reporting.
  • Responsible for NA region’s Industrial Operations, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, and Quality departments:
    • Oversee, coach, mentor, build-up, and efficiently lead the industrial operations including, industrial engineering, logistics and quality departments in the North American region. This is done in close coordination with the Corporate HQ functions. The scope includes existing and future plants in the region and the regional US headquarters. Staff includes the Plant Managers and the Regional Managers of, Industrial Engineering, Logistics and Quality.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Plant Managers and the Regional Managers of, IE, LO & QM
  • Support advanced commercial quotations, staffing and capex estimations and process flows
  • Responsible for the overall cost/delivery/safety performance KPIs and the continuous improvement of plant industrial operations for North America. This includes management of industrial engineering, and logistics processes. Must ensure adherence to HBPO procedures and standards in order to support successful plant/program launches and serial production programs.
  • Oversee, coach, mentor, build-up, and efficiently lead the industrial operations including, industrial engineering, logistics and quality departments in the North American region. This is done in close coordination with the Corporate HQ functions. The scope includes existing and future plants in the region and the regional US headquarters. Staff includes the Plant Managers and the Regional Managers of, Industrial Engineering, Logistics and Quality.
  • Oversee the implementation and enforcement of regional health & safety standard practices in accordance with HBPO standards and any mandatory governmental regulations in collaboration with EHS.
  • Responsible for overseeing and improving existing and start-up of Injection Molding Facilities, including the health & safety of IMM process.
  • Ensure efficient, targeted usage of financial and human resources in all plant operational activities.
  • Assist with Labor union negotiation strategies for North American facilities

Marginal Functions Duties:

  • Lead, plan and execute special assignments from the President of HBPO North America and/or the Global Director IO, IE, LO
  • Support in close collaboration with FC, the preparation of the business plan and rolling forecasts for the North American plants (existing & planned) including the related KPI target setting, capital expenditure targets, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Has the authority and obligation to stop production in case unsafe working conditions are observed. Has the obligation to notify the President for Safety related matters requiring immediate attention

Related Experience/Specialized Knowledge:

  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment is required
  • Proven problem-solving skills, mediation skills
  • Knowledge of customer specific requirements
  • Proven track record of successfully mentoring, coaching and leading multiple departments within an organization
  • Very organized, strong analytical skills.
  • Entrepreneurial experience and high motivation to create, implement, enforce and continuously improve cross-functional business processes and standards together with other departments and other sites

Education:

  • Enhanced professional training on Industrial Operations and Quality systems preferred
  • MBA or related degree preferred
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Management, Business Administration or equivalent

Professional /Technical Training:

  • Experience in Industrial Engineering and Logistics is required
  • Experience in Just-in-Sequence manufacturing processes
  • Experience in automotive Quality Systems and Health & Safety
  • Of which minimum 10 years in a senior leadership role including personnel supervision, preferably multi-site across North America
  • Experience in running and starting up injection molding facilities
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Industrial Operations of which 10+ years automotive industry
