Job Description

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR


The GRAMMY Museum is looking for a music AND MUSEUM loving professional to join OUR marketing team as Director of Marketing. the Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance the museum's brand, drive visitor engagement, and achieve attendance and revenue goals.


WHAT YOU'LL DO


Marketing Strategy and Planning:

  • Create and oversee the implementation of marketing campaigns, promotions, and initiatives to drive attendance, memberships, revenue, and to increase engagement.
  • Includes general attendance, exhibitions, public programs, education and community engagement programs, special events, partnerships, membership, retail (onsite & online), café and COLLECTION:live.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitive positioning.
  • Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan aligned with the museum's mission, vision, and goals.
    • Includes general attendance, exhibitions, public programs, education and community engagement programs, special events, partnerships, membership, retail (onsite & online), café and COLLECTION:live.
  • Oversee the master marketing and communications calendar, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating the museum's messaging and content across various channels.

Brand Management:

  • Collaborate with the Recording Academy marketing team on cross-functional marketing and appropriate brand approvals.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling and engaging content that aligns with the museum's brand voice and values.
  • Responsible for the creation, distribution, and quality assurance of all marketing materials, including brochures, rack cards, exhibit pamphlets, partner packets, one-sheets, and press materials.
  • Develop and maintain the museum's brand identity, in collaboration with the Recording Academy, ensuring consistent messaging, visual aesthetics, and brand positioning.
  • Manage the museum’s profile on partner sites (TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google, etc.).
  • Establish and enforce brand guidelines throughout all marketing collateral, communications, and touchpoints.

Digital Marketing & Online Presence:

  • Leverage social media platforms to enhance the museum's social presence and engage with the target audience.
  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to drive online traffic, increase visitor engagement, and promote events and exhibitions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Media to ensure the website is up-to-date, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines.

Advertising and Promotions:

  • Develop and execute effective email marketing campaigns to engage with the museum's audience, promote events and exhibitions, and drive visitor attendance.
  • Explore innovative and creative promotional opportunities to attract new visitors and engage existing audiences.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate advertising campaigns across multiple channels, including print, digital, outdoor, and broadcast media.
  • Monitor advertising performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize advertising spend and increase ROI.

Media Sponsorships and Partnerships:

  • Identify and secure media sponsorships and partnerships to expand the museum's reach and visibility.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of media buying, including identifying target media outlets, negotiating contracts, and optimizing media placements for maximum reach and impact.
  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and community partners to maximize media coverage and brand exposure.

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Lead and inspire the marketing team that currently consists of a marketing coordinator and graphic designer, providing clear direction, setting goals, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Manage the department's budget, resources, and external agency relationships effectively.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Work with Recording Academy Legal team on trademark registrations and renewals, and ensuring materials and images used for exhibitions are cleared marketing use.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including curatorial, advancement, education and public programs, to develop integrated marketing campaigns that align with exhibition schedules, events, and programs.
  • Liaise with external vendors, agencies, artist teams and partners to coordinate marketing initiatives, sponsorships, and collaborations.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, derive insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Familiarity with email service providers and digital marketing tools
  • 5-10 years’ experience within marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Proven experience in a mid-senior level marketing role, preferably in the music, cultural, or arts sector with specific experience in driving tune-in, visitors, and audience
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, including branding, digital marketing, advertising, and graphic design.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and the ability to translate ideas into actionable marketing initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and the media.
