About the Role:

In this newly created position, the Director of Marketing Communications will help develop and execute strategies to increase GenderCool’s brand recognition and engagement with media, corporate and advocacy organization partners, donors and the wider community. They should:be a strategic thinker; be motivated to push the creative envelope; be a strong, concise writer; stay current on industry trends, best practices and reporting metrics and KPIs; and have experience planning, executing and optimizing campaigns.


Reporting to the Executive Director, who has spent her career in the global marketing world, and collaborating with the Senior Director of Operations and Programs and development team, the Director of Marketing Communications responsibilities include: developing and executing cross-functional marketing and communications plans; tracking and analyzing the performance of campaigns; engaging with analytics and content tracking vendors; have an understanding of web analytics; manage the marketing budget and ensure that all programming and materials are in line with our brand identity.This position also manages the Social Media Manager and will occaisionally oversee earned media and other project management professionals.


To be successful in this role, the individual should have hands-on experience with web analytics tools and be able to turn creative ideas into effective projects. Ultimately, the individual will helpbuild and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels. The Director of Marketing Communications should have a desire to be part of a rapidly-growing social movement, fueled by the young people ages 12 and older whom we call the GenderCool Champions.


Responsibilities

The Director of Marketing Communications will lead the organization’s brand, storytelling, and outreach efforts including:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual marketing and communications plan that includes social media, print, digital content, and email marketing
  • Build strategic relationships and partner with key industry players, agencies and vendors
  • Prepare and monitor the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis and allocate funds wisely
  • Ensure that GenderCool’s brand identity, messaging, marketing, and communications strategies are infused in all organizational efforts (programs, fundraising, events, advocacy, etc.)
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing marketing campaigns related to programs, special events and donor cultivation


Content Strategy and Management

  • Develop strategies and tactics to grow awareness of GenderCool and drive qualified traffic to the GenderCool.org
  • Oversee the development, design, distribution, and maintenance of print and digital collateral
  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution
  • Experiment with a variety of organic and paid acquisition channels like content creation, content curation, pay per click campaigns, event management, publicity, social media, lead generation campaigns, copywriting, performance analysis
  • Lead the strategy and generation of engaging digital content for websites, social media, and email channels that leads to measurable action and engagement
  • Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals


Public Relations

  • Identify trends, and monitor current events and influencers to anticipate opportunities for GenderCool to continue to engage in and lead the national conversation
  • Guide the strategy on press outreach, including messaging in press releases, creation of materials, interview preparation, and responses to media inquiries


Skills

  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)
  • Understanding of LGTBQ+ community, specifically the transgender community
  • High competence in project and stakeholder management
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong grasp of building dynamic presentations using Powerpoint and Keynote
  • Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing and communications campaigns that engage audiences
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in marketing and communications or related field
  • Must be located in Eastern, Central, or Mountain Time Zone
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Must be able to travel Must be able to travel 2-5 times a year on average
  • Experience working remotely


Role Parameters

  • Ideal start date: October 1, 2023
  • Remote full-time employee
  • Estimated Time Requirement: 40 hours per week
  • $80,000 - $85,000
