Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Executive and Artistic Director, the Director of Marketing and Communications serves as a senior member of The Soraya’s leadership team and is a key contributor to developing and realizing revenue strategies, long-term planning, brand development, and all goals related to The Soraya’s reputation and visibility. The incumbent provides guidance and analysis in tracking patron data to create and adapt marketing and communications strategies, as well as strategies for building the Membership Program.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing The Soraya’s marketing budget and responsibility for adhering to all budgeting parameters and procedures of The Soraya and CSUN.
  • Directly overseeing all strategic communication, PR, media relations, sales strategies, online content, and creative assets used in promoting The Soraya’s engagements and oversees content creation in these areas.
  • As a leader —demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university’s vision, values, and priorities. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive team. Encourages a courageous and resilient solution-oriented environment by participating in new opportunities to further the mission of the university. Participates in developing initiatives that further support the campus mission with a service-oriented and catalytic mindset. Strengthens employees by being communicative and a talent builder that develops team attributes, furthering departmental goals.
  • Developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies that contribute to the growth and financial stability of The Soraya.
