Director Of Inventory Jobs

Scope of Responsibility: Oversee and effectively utilizes available resources to ensure the organization has access to the materials it needs to meet the expectations of its customers through efficient operations and manufacturing, and the associated transactions are recorded accurately, timely and completely to ensure the integrity of its financial statements. Ensure the achievement of department objectives through the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities in compliance with the organization’s high standards for safety, quality, profitability, and customer service.

Essential Duties:

• Ability to work in a matrix/cross-functional environment.
• Responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of the inventory and corresponding reconciliation to the sub-ledger and general ledger.
• Implement, manage, and monitor the business process for the inventory departments for the utility segment.
• Oversee the execution and reporting of the overall inventory operational duties including, but not limited to, receiving in-bound shipments of plates, I-beams, other structural items and small parts/kits; fanning and marking plates; picking and staging plates and other material required for production.
• Oversee the execution and reporting of the department’s transaction processing duties within the ERP system including, but not limited to, receiving plate, I-beams, other structural items and small parts/kits; accurately issuing material to jobs, quantity adjustments; review of negative inventory; plate move reports (bin locations); and identification of excess and obsolete inventory.
• Responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the receiving and inventory control teams.
• Monitor and evaluate the equipment needs of the department including, but not limited to, forklifts, trailers, railroad ties/dunnage, rock, computers, and other office supplies, in order to maximize operational efficiency, minimize downtime and maintain safety.
• Interact with divisional and executive management to identify inventory control process changes and develop action plans to capitalize on opportunities for improvement.
• Responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of daily cycle counting procedures and corresponding reconciliation to the sub-ledger and general ledger.

Primary Focus

• Develop, optimize and track KPI’s (key performance indicators) – drive corrective actions if off track.
• Effectively communicate with all executive levels and operational management to ensure that goals and objectives are being met.
• Act as champion, coach, and subject matter expert driving inventory process, efficiencies, and excellence.

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in preferred

Experience: Minimum 5 years in inventory control

Skills & Abilities: Ability to function as a change agent to quickly develop relationships to drive change.

Proven interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written. Strong leadership presence.
