Job Description
The Director of Finance and Operations is a member of Nonprofits First's senior management team, reporting directly to the President/CEO with significant interaction with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee. The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for successfully managing the day-to-day internal operations of the organization to ensure adequate fiscal controls , ethical responsibility, and excellence in financial and overall management. Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and maintain the organizations budgets, audits, accounting services, internal and external financial reporting, cash flow management, investing, purchasing, receivables, 401k retirement plan, insurance, benefits, long-range forecasting, banking, licensing, contracts, and supplier and vendor relationships. Prepare annual budget, subsequent revisions, and amendments to include organizational goals, objectives, and requirements. Develop, update, and maintain Nonprofits First fiscal and operational systems, policies, and procedures necessary to maintain Accreditation standards, proper records, and appropriate internal controls. Manage financial relationships with funders, grantors and other third parties including reimbursement requests, required reports, and audits. Present accurate, detailed, and timely financial reports to management and department managers. the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors. Provide financial advice, counsel, training and support to management, the Finance Committee, the Board of Directors, and members. Monitor all significant organizational financial variances, identify such variances, and offer explanation in monthly financial reports. Provide fiscal review assistance to Nonprofits First Accreditation, as well as financial analysis and support to all Nonprofit First departments as needed or requested. Serve on the Accreditation Standards Committee along with Accreditation Team. Provide oversight and review for GROW (Grants to Reach Organizational Wellness) program. Assist the CEO in managing and growing the organization by designing and implementing sound financial practices and business models that support Nonprofits First's mission, programs, services, and Strategic Plan. Oversee and manage all human resources functions of the organization including participation in recruitment, training, payroll, and benefits. Create an ongoing effective and positive work environment that promotes strong positive relationships and world-class internal and external customer service. Oversee, manage, and maintain Nonprofits First facilities in coordination with assigned staff. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Required Experience and Skills: Bachelor's degree in accounting required, active CPA license and/or MBA strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years accounting, progressive financial management, business development, and human resource Minimum of 5 years' demonstrated leadership & staff management Minimum of 5 years' experience in the nonprofit sector. Proficiency with automated accounting systems (QuickBooks, MIP, Fund EZ). Strong initiative, teamwork, and customer service skills. Effective analytical, decision-making, organizational planning, and critical thinking skills Advanced computer and technology skills, as well as a demonstrated competency for written and oral communication skills.
