Director Of Engineering - Relationship Offerings & App Growth

As a Director of Engineering, you’ll play a key role in shaping Best Buy’s relationship offerings and mobile app growth. You’ll apply your leadership and engineering expertise to an area that plays a significant role in helping Best Buy achieve its goal of building deeper customer relationships. You’ll establish and grow a talented team of engineering professionals while embracing inclusive leadership behaviors, working through ambiguity, demonstrating strong attention to detail, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll do

• Build highly scalable real-time APIs and experiences
• Build and manage collaborative and innovative teams that operate across different technology stacks
• Partner with product leaders, bring new capabilities to life, and help improve our relationships with customers
• Develop measurable and actionable objectives for the relationship offerings and app growth engineering team to enhance multiple membership programs
• Evaluate emerging trends and patterns of use and contribute to building an evolutionary architecture that supports constant change
• Build an engineering organization that is multi-cloud oriented, business focused while being proactive at observing, detecting, and remediating issues in the relationship offerings space

Basic qualifications

• 1 year of experience managing managers
• 3 years of experience with cloud-ready, highly scalable and performant APIs and event driven systems of integration
• 8 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
• 2 years of experience managing and leading engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra or similar
• Ability to drive collaboration between engineers, product managers, and leaders
• Ability to build and optimize web scale applications and platforms in a cloud environment and a deep understanding of design patterns
• Excellent communication skills, especially when working with a distributed team
• Implementing DevSecOps and CI/CD practices at scale
• Ability to triage and manage complex, production issues
• Passion for staying on top of trends, experimenting with new patterns, participating in technology forums, and mentoring members of the engineering community
