Job Description
Position Purpose


The Director of Learning oversees the divisional Learning organizations and ensure the application of learning curricula from the Atlanta SSC to their Division. As the link between their Division and the Altanta SSC, they also communicate divisional learning needs to the Atlanta SSC. In addition, the position is responsible for developing curricula for key leadership and roles unique to the division. Incumbents work with strategic business partners from the field and functional areas, as well as the Directors of the enterprise Learning Institutes to align learning objectives with business goals for the company and the Division. They oversee the execution of of all required training within their division, and they partner with their divisional officers to help develop and execute gameplans related to learning initiatives. They supervise a team of trainers, including Divisional Learning and Specialty College managers and Leadership trainers. In addition, the Learning Directors supervises the Project Manager(s) and Learning Administrator to ensure the coordination of learning delivery for the field. They oversee the certification process for all divisional associates.


Key Responsibilities


  • Leading and supervising Divisional Learning and Specialty College Managers, Project Managers, and other trainers
  • Working with Stakeholders on rollout of training materials or curricula
  • Working with Atlanta SSC on Divisional needs, curriculum development and strategic planning
  • Partnering with various functional and field business partners to execute their training needs
  • Analyzing various reports and identifying needs or opportunities
  • Responsible for appropriate selection, termination, performance appraisal, and professional development of assigned staff.
  • Strategic planning by using various reports
  • Tracking results to evaluate the financial impact and business results of training


Direct Manager/Direct Reports


  • Direct and indirectreports typically include up to 15 managers/supervisors, 3 professionals, and 50 support associates
  • Typically reports to Human Resource Vice President.


Travel Requirements


  • Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.


Physical Requirements


  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions


  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Nine to twelve years learning and/or instructional design experience is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred.


Minimum Education


  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
