Job Description
IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by 14 million students worldwide, has an exciting opportunity available for a Human Resources Director to grow with us as our 1000+ person company continues to expand.
The Human Resources Director will report to the VP HR and partner with senior management and other leaders by providing advice and guidance on a wide range of HR issues. The ideal candidate will be an HR operations expert with a broad HR background (partnering, CoE management, etc.) who is able to quickly establish credibility and trust with the management team and employees. Key focus areas are HR policies and processes (onboarding, offboarding, etc.); Total Rewards (compensation, benefits, recognition); HCM/Workday, analytics and reporting; and compliance program administration.
  • This is a full time position in our Raleigh, NC office with a hybrid work schedule.*
What You'll Be Doing
  • Diagnose operational issues and develop solutions and implement action plans that address issues; partner with leaders (Payroll, Finance, IT, and Operations) to identify risks and/or exposure to the business and advise on recommended solutions
  • Ensure that HR operations documentation and training is current; work with team to develop and publish new resources (guides, instructions, trainings) to support HR policies, processes and systems
  • Work closely with HR partner team to ensure HR operations programs align with organizational needs across the company
  • Act as a senior role model, representing IXL leadership qualities of authenticity, strategic agility, navigating ambiguity, and mission-driven
  • As part of the HR leadership team, develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, policies, and processes across the organization with the goal of continual improvement and promoting a positive work environment
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and coaching to managers that advance IXL business and people strategies; continue to build a feedback culture by developing capacity to deliver actionable and timely feedback
  • In coordination with the VP HR and HR leadership team, design and implement robust processes and systems solutions that align with unit or organization’s talent management strategies and programs
  • Stay current on best industry practices that can be applied and/or implemented within the organization and maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Lead a team of HR analysts to develop and administer HR policies, processes and systems
  • Provide support and guidance to HR team, management, and other staff with complex HR operations issues; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in certain circumstances

What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of experience and progressive responsibility in human resources, talent management, and/or HR operations
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to roll up one's sleeves and perform tactical work
  • Strong technical proficiency with HR systems (Workday preferred), G-suite, and MS Office tools
  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • 5 years of people management experience, including leading HR generalists/analysts, business partners, or similar teams
  • Experience in managing HR operations for a multi-state organization; strongly prefer proven background leading HR globally (Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, China)
  • SPHR or SCP preferred
  • 2+ years of project management experience such as leading HR systems implementation (ATS/HCM) or acquisition related activities (due diligence, integrations, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and vendors; strong team player
Additional Information
IXL Learning anticipates that the annual base salary for this position could range from between $145,000 to $220,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s credentials for the role, including education, qualifications, and type as well as length of experience. Any offered salary is also based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, and the position’s wage range. The salary range listed does not include any applicable bonuses or long-term incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. IXL Learning is a multistate employer and the salary offered will be market competitive. At IXL Learning, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
