Job Description
Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Transition Initiatives, the Director provides overall leadership, strategic direction, vision, coordination, and delivery of a centralized, comprehensive career services department that offers a variety of services and programs to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni from all of the UT Dallas academic schools. The Director assumes fiscal and leadership responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of Student Employment, Career Development, Career Education, Employer Relations. and Experiential Programs.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s degree in business administration, student personnel services, counseling or related field and a minimum of five years’ experience in career management services. Knowledge of college career services programs and career development theory.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources, or a closely related field. Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education career services; working with student employment or financial aid; demonstrated budget administration experience; strong written and oral communication skills; proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Handshake, or other CSM systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Programs and services administered by the Director include the following: Career counseling and assessments; Career education and development programs; Career management classes; Experiential education programs; On- and off-campus student employment services; Post-graduation employment services; Career expos, employer relations; Graduate and professional school information and fairs; Job and internship development; Marketing and promotion; Data collection, analysis and distribution; Career Resource Library; Electronic constituent management system; Career mentor network and alumni career network. Other duties as assigned.
