Career Services Adviser

As a career services adviser, you will assist SCAD graduate students, undergraduate students, and alumni by hosting one-on-one sessions with assigned students and developing engaging workshops, presentations, and special events. You will also conduct outreach to industry leaders, businesses, and alumni to help develop job and internship opportunities for SCAD students and graduates. You will be responsible for maintaining essential database information and interactions for the career advising benchmark system, students and activities engaged, and documenting individual and group work.

In this full-time role, you will consult with students regarding individual issues as they relate to career identification, choosing a major/minor, and decision-making. You will provide or recommend trainings and professional development in academic, personal, and pre-professional workshops as well as registering on the SCAD Jobs portal. Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills are critical. Participation in departmental and institutional events and activities as needed, such as the SCAD Career Fair, is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Working understanding of information management systems
• Strong communication, presentation, writing, organizational, collaboration, and project management skills
• Understanding of career development process
• Experience as a personal advisor, coach, or counselor
• Thorough knowledge of sources and reference tools
• Bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated understanding of art and design job market
• Experience working with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree

Travel required: Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
