Job Summary


McKesson is seeking a 340B Solutions Director.


This individual leads 340B cross-functional strategy for the Strategic National Accounts (SNA) and Community Pharmacy & Health (CP&H) segments. This role will collaborate with account VPs to plan and execute strategies to best position our customers in the market and achieve their aspirations while ensuring McKesson strengthens our business relationships. The Director will provide consultation to retail national pharmacy accounts, medium/small chain retail and independent retail pharmacy customers.


The role will also be responsible for supporting network build, 340B contract pharmacy design, and formulation and execution of new 340B solutions. This Director will offer strategic and leadership support in agreement of development, negotiation, and implementation of new business opportunities. This individual will also provide continuing education sessions at national and local levels. In addition, this Director will work across functional teams (Finance, SNA/CP&H, & McKesson Health Systems/MHS) at McKesson to execute contract pharmacy programs for the benefit of the covered entities and contract pharmacy partners of McKesson.


Key Responsibilities


  • Leverage Macro Helix and McKesson U.S. Pharmaceuticals core competencies to establish new accounts and grow existing 340B business.
  • Develop resources, sales support, implementation plan, and ongoing support.
  • Strategize/execute plans with SNA and CP&H VPs to establish new 340B accounts and grow existing select customers.
  • Secure Sr. leadership support and approval.
  • Provide strategic management and ensure contractual compliance for 340B customer base.
  • Determine resources required to execute solutions and prioritize activities and opportunities.
  • Provide education in the form of CE’s and individual consultation to retail and health system customers, McKesson stakeholders, and others as needed.
  • Goals for the customer base include world-class customer satisfaction, sales goal achievement and streamlining cost to service through planning, process development and teamwork across all functional areas.
  • Liaison between 340B third party software vendors and all McKesson functional areas to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Decision maker for contract engagement, inventory management, software vendor selection and audit preparedness based on individual customer needs.
  • Develop 340B solutions.
  • Perform consultative analysis, including customer and McKesson root cause analyses and gap analyses to identify and provide realistic recommendations for resolution of issues.


Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)


  • Self-motivated, excels at working in a spontaneous and challenging environment.
  • Demonstrated that he/she has consistently created value for customers, employees, and shareholders by driving customer satisfaction.
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • May have a variety of backgrounds, such as account management, business development, finance, marketing, sales, and consulting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to take initiative.
  • Have established long-term relationships with senior management of national retail chains.
  • Someone who takes risk to implement new ideas and creates a culture of collaboration and teamwork that fosters open communication and organizational flexibility.
  • 7+ years of strategic planning, business development, strategic marketing, or relevant industry experience (e.g., finance, healthcare economics, corporate strategy).


Specialized Knowledge/Skills


  • A down-to-earth, no-nonsense team player who can motivate with a "hands-on, can-do" attitude.
  • Demonstrated recognition as a strong team player, contributor, and value-adding member in team environments.
  • Able to make decisions that are well balanced and based on the team's input.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with the 340B program, project management experience.
  • Possesses superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A consultative executive and a "big picture" problem solver.
  • A detailed and independent leader who possesses a strong work ethic and can foster respect from his/her own peers, industry leaders, and subordinates based on example, not opinion.
  • A proactive person who can use his/her resources creatively.


Education & Work Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technician License preferred.


Working Conditions


  • Remote work environment – United States.
  • Able to travel overnight domestically 25% of the time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US unrestricted – This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.


Our Base Pay Range for this position


$94,800 - $158,000
