You are interested in the intersection of molecular biology, computer science, and chemistry and are eager to help us leverage tools from these areas to create more scalable, sustainable, and standardized molecular preservation approaches.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team of experts to define project objectives, provide lab operations expertise, and contribute to project planning and execution.
- Foster a culture of curiosity and scientific rigor by mentoring and guiding others.
- Design, optimize, and execute experiments to develop and validate molecular biology-based assays and technologies following project goals and timelines.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, proposing innovative solutions to optimize processes, overcome challenges, and enhance product performance, accuracy, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety protocols in all laboratory activities, maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest scientific and technological advancements and apply this knowledge to advance product development.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present conclusions to all team members to drive decision-making and guide further research and development efforts.
Required
- Substantial experience developing and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Substantial experience in experimental design, execution, and data analysis within a scientific research and development environment, focusing on process optimization.
- Exceptional organizational skills for organizing physical specimens and digital data effectively for long-term use.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including effectively communicating complex scientific concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related scientific discipline with a track record of scientific research and development. Candidates with a Master’s degree and extensive experience will also be considered.
- Outstanding laboratory skills and expertise, including sequencing library preparation, RNA sequencing preparation, and other basic molecular laboratory techniques such as DNA amplification and clean-up.
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with a proven ability to tackle complex scientific challenges.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality and accuracy.
Preferred
- Experience working with and developing lab automation solutions.
- Experience working in assay development and regulated laboratory environments (e.g. GLP, CLIA-equivalent, CAP, ISO, GMP, etc).
- Proficiency with Benchling and/or other LIMS systems.
- Optional: experience working with RNA, epigenetics, long-read sequencing.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and quality control standards specific to nucleic acids.
- Proficiency using Python, R, or other programming languages for data analysis.
