Job Description

In order for your application to be considered, you must attach a cover letter and resume to your employment application.

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the “Trojan Family.”

USC Price School of Public Policy is seeking a Development Officer. Reporting to the Price School’s Associate Dean of Advancement, the Development Officer plays a vital role in the daily operations of the Advancement Office to help the team reach revenue goals. Duties include direct outreach to donors and alumni, stakeholder communications through multi-platform engagement, planning and executing fundraising events, and providing administrative support. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about donor engagement and relationship building while being part of a successful team that raises funds for public policy scholarship and research. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work arrangement.

The USC Price School Advancement Team is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture in which all staff and our stakeholders have the opportunity to connect, belong, and grow while supporting the University of Southern California’s mission, values, and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Special projects as required.
  • Manage the ThankView platform and send digital communications to stakeholders.
  • Using Salesforce, produce donation/prospect/donor reports, mailing lists, event invitation lists, and fundraising analytics.
  • Manage the annual development calendar to ensure year-round engagement and stewardship of donors.
  • Provide administrative support including the production of meeting agendas, slide decks, briefings, acknowledgement letters, correspondence, and collateral for donors.
  • Work closely with colleagues in University Advancement on mailing campaigns and other donor communications.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events in collaboration with the Price School events team.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to reprioritize on the fly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar database.
  • Excellent planning, execution, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information with discretion.

The salary rate range for this position is $79,500 - $92,660. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Some hybrid work will be on the main USC campus. There will be some opportunities for remote work as well. Location and schedule will change based on tasks. Ability to work evening and weekend hours for periodic events as needed.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Experience: 4 years of similar work providing administrative support and customer service

For consideration, please include a compelling cover letter, resume, and sample acknowledgement letter to a fictitious Price School donor. This position requires writing skills and we appreciate the opportunity to see this writing sample. The Price School website will be helpful as you draft this one-page letter to a donor. These may be attached as one or multiple documents. Incomplete applications may not be considered.
