Summary

The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) Office of Information Technology has an excellent opportunity for an IT professional looking to join an innovative, motivated, customer focused team providing high touch support for faculty, staff, students, and guests. This position is responsible for providing frontline hardware, software, and technology support and concierge services for both physical and virtual technologies. Attention to detail, the ability to positively adapt to changing contexts and expectations, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues of varying technical experience is required.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide support for remote, onsite, and hybrid course delivery, remote work, and events.
  • Assist in the development of technology training curriculum.
  • Provide A/V, classroom and clinical simulation technical support for UMSN.
  • Serve as liaison to internal campus IT service providers (H.I.T.S., MSIS, ITS) and external IT service providers for UMSN.
  • Consult with faculty, staff and students regarding their technology implementation and adoption needs.
  • Conduct new, existing, and emerging technology training for UMSN.
  • Assist with management of hardware and software asset lifecycle (research, evaluation, recommendation, configuration, deployment, and maintenance).
  • Serve as the technical support first point of contact for UMSN faculty, staff, students, nursing affiliates and guests.
  • Document and implement processes and procedures for unit IT technical support and administrative functions.
  • Test and deploy new systems; analyze systems and solution effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Provide U-M mobile and portable device support for faculty, staff, and students.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision will be provided by the Director of Technology.

Required Qualifications*

  • Demonstrated proficiency at the advanced level with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Expert knowledge of Google productivity suite.
  • Ability to benchmark and troubleshoot PC, laptop, and mobile device hardware.
  • Two (2) or more years of IT end user support experience.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums.
  • Experience with higher education computing environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows management, Active Directory, software deployment, and security tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Capacity to translate technical information into a form that is of value and actionable for users of varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Basic network troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Experience with current versions Windows and Mac OS.
  • Significant experience deploying and configuring Windows and/or Macintosh operating systems.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Understanding of ITIL 4.
  • Experience with classroom A/V systems (Projectors, Crestron Control Systems, A/V switchers, Audio Codecs, etc).
  • Experience with remote management tools (Bombar).
  • Experience with configuring BYOD devices MDM tools.
  • Experience with IT asset management.
  • Experience with VOIP devices.

Additional Information

Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include some occasional weekend and/or evening hours.
