Position Description
A Democratic Member of Congress from Florida seeks a hard-working and organized individual to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff in his Washington, DC office. Applicants should be detail-oriented, proactive, and have a willingness to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, dynamic office.
Job responsibilities include:
• Creating and updating the Congressman’s schedule in DC.
• Responding to and processing invitations for meetings and events in a timely manner.
• Managing the Congressman’s travel plans and logistics.
• Coordinating with DC and District staff to prepare the Congressman’s daily binder.
• Serving as a member of the “front office” team, including answering the phone and greeting visitors.
• Additional duties related to managing the overall operation of the DC office.
This is not an entry-level position. Previous Capitol Hill scheduling experience is preferred. Florida ties are a plus. Some work outside traditional office hours is required.

Compensation
The compensation is $60,000 - $70,000 per year, along with a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance; federal student loan repayment (terms apply); retirement plans; transit benefits; and paid time off.

A qualified applicant must meet one of the following residency requirements within the continental United States for eligibility for a paid position with the U.S. House of Representatives:
- Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B)
- Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law)
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible
