We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst specializing in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety to join our dynamic team. As a Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting healthcare data to drive improvements in patient safety, care quality, and operational efficiency. Your expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and healthcare systems will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for enhancing patient outcomes, strategic decision making, providing data-driven insights, reducing errors, and promoting a culture of safety within our organization.
Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret large volumes of healthcare data related to quality improvement and patient safety from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHRs), claims databases, and other relevant systems. Employ advanced analytics techniques and statistical models to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data.
  • Predictive Modeling: Apply predictive modeling techniques to anticipate potential patient safety risks and quality issues. Develop models to forecast trends, identify high-risk areas, and proactively implement preventive measures. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop risk stratification approaches and prioritize interventions.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Develop and generate comprehensive reports, visualizations, and dashboards to effectively communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders, including management, healthcare providers, and other relevant teams. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and relevance in presenting findings. Present findings in a clear and concise manner, highlighting actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and interventions. Utilize quantitative and qualitative methodologies to measure the impact of these initiatives on patient outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate closely with various departments, including Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Clinical Leadership, and Information Technology teams. Work together to define data requirements, analyze data needs, and identify opportunities for data-driven improvements in patient safety and quality. Act as a subject matter expert in healthcare data analysis, providing guidance and support to stakeholders.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Implement robust data quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data used in quality improvement and patient safety analyses. Collaborate with relevant teams to identify and address any data discrepancies or inconsistencies, and suggest improvements in data collection and reporting processes.
  • Compliance and Privacy: Adhere to all relevant privacy regulations and healthcare compliance guidelines, including HIPAA, to ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information. Stay updated on emerging trends, policies, and best practices in healthcare data management and analysis.
Requirements

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, compliance, and privacy requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, data science, statistics, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • CHDA, CPHQ or CPPS certification preferred or other healthcare data analyst certification
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and draw meaningful conclusions from complex data.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, patient safety principles, quality improvement methodologies (e.g., CPHQ, CPPS, or Lean Six Sigma certifications preferred), and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS guidelines) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in healthcare data analysis, preferably within a Quality and Safety department or within a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, terminologies (e.g., ICD-10, CPT), and industry standards (e.g., HL7) is highly desirable.
