Data Analyst Jobs

Center Point Energy is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Continuous Improvement Team, located in Houston, TX.
You will have the ability to: leverage your knowledge of systems, analytics tools, and mathematical/statistical expertise to develop new analytics solutions and perform exploratory analysis to discover new insights. Individuals in this position will work with or serve as data analyst to different business units and stakeholders to transform raw data into easy-to-understand insights to drive action and enable business units to make informed decisions. This role enables various work groups to use and trust the organization’s data with the goal of realizing the data’s full potential.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will

• Develop test strategies for implemented efforts to optimize collection and use of data to improve efficiency, improve data quality, improve customer service, and reduce costs.
• May provide training and guidance to less experienced professionals.
• Perform exploratory analysis to uncover valuable and quantifiable business insights through the application of analytic, machine learning, statistical, and algorithmic techniques.
• Constant, self-motivated pursuit of learning systems, organizational structure, processes, data sets, techniques, etc.
• Develop dashboards, scorecards, and other visualizations to support exploratory analysis and business requests.
• Leverage expertise in business systems, processes, and data sets to serve as a champion for improved data quality and accurate data use across the organization.
• Conveys information to occasionally divergent audiences that may require some persuasion or are not knowledgeable of the subject matter.
• Operate with moderate supervision, guidance, and direction from leadership and senior staff.
• Build data wrangling/ETL infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources to prepare datasets for analysis.
• Assist in refining and prioritizing work request (self-created and submitted by other business units) to optimize collection and use of data to improve efficiency, improve data quality, improve customer service, and reduce costs.
• Development of formal documentation including process maps, meeting minutes, glossaries, data dictionaries, meta data, architecture diagrams.

Your Background Includes

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
• Experience with Data Warehousing technology like Oracle Databases, SAP HANA, Google Big Query, etc.
• Programming experience in languages including SQL, Python, etc.
• Strong knowledge and use of PowerBI and Tableau data visualization software.
• Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

A Bonus To Have

• Knowledge of Looker analytics tool.
• Experience with data governance.
• Knowledge Geographic Information System GIS.
• Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner.
• Knowledge of Programming Languages such as R and JavaScript.
• Experience working with machine learning, statistical techniques, and algorithms
