Custodian I (Housing & Dining - Part-Time)

Duties To Include

University Housing and Dining is seeking to hire a Custodian I to provide safe, clean, and healthy environments in all residence halls.

• Work at elevated heights.
• Trash removal both inside and around the exterior of the building.
• Clean and provide service to all horizontal and vertical surfaces including; glass, walls, ceilings and light fixtures.
• Stock and maintain supplies.
• Clean, sanitize and disinfect all restroom surfaces.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Covering areas in any residence hall building.
• Frequent use of commercial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to perform a high level of professional communication with students, staff, co-workers and visitors.
• Report and communicate repair needs for buildings and equipment.
• Floor work including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing.
• Project work including carpet extraction, bed configurations, floor stripping, waxing and buffing.
• Moving furniture, supplies and equipment.

Schedule: Saturday & Sunday 7:30am-4:00pm, and four hours pre-scheduled Monday 7:30am-11:30am.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Ability to read, write and follow directions.

Desirable Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to use commercial cleaning equipment.
• Experience interacting with the customers.
• Willingness to work in environments that vary in temperature (heat/cold) as well as noise level.
• Experience working in a physically demanding position and moving up to 50 lbs. regularly.
