What You Will Be Doing

The Credit Management Associate - Corporate & Investment Banking (C&IB) is an important member of the team. S/he manages a very active portfolio of complex and/or high dollar banking loan relationships, and routinely monitors them for risks inherent in a business loan portfolio and provides support to the Team Leader on continuous improvement initiatives and takes the lead on projects that support loan growth and efficiency objectives within lines of business. The individual helps deliver an industry-leading experience for both internal and external customers and acts as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

• Perform reviews and support management of the assigned portfolio to identify and minimize risk to the organization
• Develop a deep understanding of the assigned portfolio through close following of company developments, press releases and news reports
• Identify, gather and analyze relevant information to assess credit risk, establish viability of sources of repayment and determine appropriate loan structures
• Oversees internal approval process including ensuring accurate and timely completion of internal approval write-ups and leading deal merit discussion on internal approval calls
• Provide quality customer service, including participation in joint calls on customers, as needed. Support the team on special projects
• Support underwriters in collaboration with bankers in preparing credit approval memos with recommendations consistent with bank policy that illustrate well-reasoned analysis
• Identify risk and mitigates and articulate them through written word and through incorporating them into the financial model
• Manage transactions from start to finish including borrower rating, analysis of transaction terms & conditions, industry analysis, financial modelling and presentation to credit committee
• Reviews relevant deal documents / information provided in data room, by Company / Sponsor, and third party reports
• Portfolio management of an assigned portfolio of clients including, covenant monitoring, ratings, and periodic borrower reviews

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with others and on teams
• MBA or CFA Charter preferred
• Completion of bank-certified course in Credit Training
• 5+ years - Financial analysis, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience - Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field
• Creative with high level of intellectual curiosity
• Ability to foster strong partnerships with the related documentation and underwriting units
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little supervision and simultaneously manage multiple projects
• Comfortable in customer contact situations including escalations and potential work-out/loan restructure environments
• 5+ years - Experience with underwriting loan transactions

For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $80,695-$149,500. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
