The Role
As a Creative Director based in our New York office, you will work on a wide variety of projects and content campaigns requiring 360 creative expertise (photo, video, experiential, digital, print, social, web3, etc) for our global portfolio of brands.
Reporting directly to the Global VP, Creative, the Creative Director (Special Projects & Innovation) will lead a specialized creative team on a variety of commercial assignments and special projects with advertisers and Condé Nast’s global portfolio of brands. The ideal candidate is a multidimensional and conceptual creative with proven experience executing work that brings brands closer to culture. You’re an expert in visual storytelling, and will apply a distinct point of view to bold work for our most valued advertising partners.
At Condé Nast, cross-functional collaboration is vital and success relies on “walking the walk” in both advertising and editorial settings. In partnership with creative strategists in our marketing team, the Creative Director will carry concepts and engage stakeholders across all relevant divisions of the organization. Of equal importance is hands-on creation of assets (from marketing materials to film treatments and client pitch decks) in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
You will need to bring a sound base of cultural and creative references and a hard-working collaborative attitude to every project. The role is responsible for the conceptual development of pitches and oversight of creative executions in production while managing a small team of specialists. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a smooth and efficient process across all projects while upholding Condé Nast’s brand voices, creative standards and codes throughout.
Individual & Team Responsibilities:
  • Partner with marketing leads on the conceptual creative development of custom programs. Responsible for leading the creative team from pitch through production of disruptive multi-channel campaigns.
  • Collaborate closely with strategy, marketing, talent booking, editorial and production teams in the orchestration of campaigns.
  • Pitch creative concepts directly to clients, and develop ideas that fit within the provided budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Serve as a key creative lead on set and ensure productions deliver to Condé Nast and client standards/expectations.
  • Work closely with the Global VP, Creative on the development and communication of the creative strategy and global positioning of Condé Nast Commercial Creative.
  • Continually elevate creative output and enforce a healthy creative process
  • Ensure Condé Nast Commercial Creative ideas authentically balance the voices of our editorial brands with that of our advertising partners.
  • Manage and direct a nimble team of creatives, cultivating growth opportunities and new ways of working in a complex organization.
  • Set the bar for innovative creative work. Inspire teams and stakeholders in the process of answering a brief, and the art of building a pitch.
  • Apply strategic insights to the development of creative concepts and build inventive content solutions utilizing relevant and emerging platforms/formats.
  • Nurture relationships with global cross-functional teams, and bring an inspiring commercial perspective when collaborating with editorial teams.
  • Lead creative team brainstorms and work hands-on with your team to create visually compelling materials for presentations (conceptual overviews, manifestos, moodboards, talent references, digital mock-ups, etc).

Essential Skills & Requirements
  • Passionate about brands, ideas, stories, design and experiential, and a cultural point of view that translates to brand campaigns.
  • Extensive experience on set and with pre- and post-production processes for video and still photography (digital and print).
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Experience building creative teams and implementing new processes is a plus.
  • 5+ years professional experience as a creative lead in media, premium brands or creative agencies.
  • Expert ability with Adobe Creative Suite and Google Slides.
  • Knowledge of new media and technology, A.I. and web3 is a plus.
  • Passion/experience in cultural categories relevant to Condé Nast audiences: fashion, entertainment, cuisine, beauty, travel, and technology.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a multidimensional body of work encompassing 360 creative campaigns (content and advertising).
  • Highly organized, and skilled with time-management and workload prioritization.
Base Salary: $137,000-$200,000
