Position Summary


A Cost Control Representative is responsible for the administrative support of the Cost Control team. The duties include various daily tasks to support the routine and flow of the department with occasional special projects that may arise. This position will assist in meeting departmental goals with various deadlines, and may include customer contact both written and verbal.

Key responsibilities


  • Timely follow up on addressed issues per set guidelines
  • Be open and eager to learn new tasks when needed or required
  • Self-responsibility to learn all; tasks of the department and perform all tasks when needed or required
  • To keep the manager informed of any important and/or long lasting issues.
  • To query or dispute any found discrepancy between invoice and accrued amount
  • Other job duties as assigned
  • Make accurate and timely escalations to the appropriate levels
  • Back up team members during absences required by management
  • Allocating of purchase invoices


Education and Experience


  • Detail oriented
  • Strong focus on efficiency and being organized
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Possess a strong will to learn and develop
  • Lead in a positive and collaborative manner to improve performance and production
  • Is able to think outside the box
  • Ability to interact with all levels in the organization
  • Overall 10-15 years of Accounting experience (required)
  • Good analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Is able to identify improvements in current processes and practices
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task with the ability to plan and complete work assignments with little supervision
  • 2 - 3 years’ work experience in transport or maritime industry
  • High School Diploma (required) Associate's Degree (preferred)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
